In spite of my hope that it was in fact 1974, looks like we'll get something about Apple.

No WTF selection? Or was that "Strut"? ;)

Done! It's harder for me to do the WTF selections from about 1984 on... I was pretty attuned by that point.

I must say, that is one WTF-y WTF.

Apparently it wasn't released until 1997, to capitalize on the success of "Bitch" (the album, See It Through My Eyes was originally recorded in 1984).
Have you heard it?
-
Have not. I did not realize that she was around back then.
-
sorry I was not connected last nite. Have we really not done '84 since August? Wow.

I think we've landed on '84 a few times on AT40 since then.
Aww, crap. I just realized I'm working at the school this AM. Foiled again!

oh, she will be bummed to have missed this.
of course, Ms. A could still play 10-9-8 and earn a second BOS from Sundaygal...

Eddie and the Cruisers. I actually liked Cafferty when Beaver Brown were a Springsteen knockoff on a small indie label -- it was amusing how slavishly they were imitating the E-Streeters. But once they started having actual radio hits... fuhgeddabouddit.

I requested Alphaville. I did NOT request this song.... I wonder if that is the only Alphaville song they have at KFOG.
>:(
I wanted Summer in Berlin, Lies, Sounds like a Melody or Jet Set.
-
BOS2 Alphaville.
ETA: I thought this might be a bustout but AL played it in an '88 set. (It was re-released, I assume)
proxy of shray, PsyFurs.
-
nice Jobs/Apple theme going. "Oh, The Ghost In You," he said to his Mac.

Alphaville released a greatest hits/compilation in 88

The TTs want to Hold my 'Trina, or something. Another proxy of shray.

whisper to a scream. this is way too overplayed.

-
least-necessary: Icicle Works, which has been coming up quite often in regular KFOG rotay.
-
nice Jobs/Apple theme going. "Oh, The Ghost In You," he said to his Mac.
Noticed that too. I think Annalisa must be in mourning. Imagine Geoff is also.
p.s. thanks for the proxies!

Agreed -- another DC innovation. "10@10 must include oldies from the regular rotation"

she is really struck by his death... she mentioned last night on fb that she cried a bit...
call me callous, he was an innovator and genius for sure but he was not perfect....

seems without "Tenderness" there's something missing. I'll try not to say something spiteful.

An amazing outpouring of love for such a greedy* meglomaniac. But he WAS a visionary greedy meglomaniac. RIP.
*I'm still pissed that they want 30 bucks to replace the plug for my wall charger.

I never liked Yes, but the bass line during the main verse is pretty snappy!

At least we agree on this point forward!

I would have BOS'd a couple of the other songs had I tuned in sooner, but happy to save it for Tones On Tail.

hey shray! good to see you again.
(did you see my msg about Bob Mould at Slim's?)
about mourning Steve Jobs, many folks have fallen into the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality_distortion_field), perhaps AL being one of them...

In accordance with Newton's Third Law (equal and opposite forces), I also am finding (especially here) an overreaction in the opposite direction to the deification perceived in the media. There is a reality distortion field for those who think of Jobs only as a rich pushy guy.

Well said. I've noticed that, too. But when you say 'especially here' do you mean the Bay Area? or this board? or your school?
KQED's Forum was all about Steve Jobs today, and NYT tech reporter John Markoff (sp?) and some SJMerc reporter told a few anecdotes about Jobs.

here's an amusing remake featuring lots of cheesecake (but not too much cheesecake, and none too soon!):

Don't take me too seriously here... Like I said, I'm a little pissed at apple and it's proprietary stranglehold on my wallet right now. I have a higher opinion of Jobs than you might think. But I'm certainly not personally, emotionally invested in the man himself, and try to steer clear of that kind of hero worship.

I have friends who have worked with him, and I don't hero worship him either. I guess what I hold him up as is an example of the power of vision, and will. What sets Apple apart in so many devices are the little things as well as the big ones, and I give Steve a lot of credit for that. I was a little surprised at the media coverage yesterday afternoon, but what I think it all boils down to is that the iPod and iPhone have changed the modern world, and he's the most recognizable face one can connect with that way.
