yes, it's a VT of the first 10 years, starting with... you guessed it... "Rock This Town". And on thru 1991. Requests are being taken but I'm not even gonna bother; I'm in a meeting Friday at 10am.
-
I requested "Let the Music Play" for '83. Honey, I'm tryin'!

and I wish I could click "like" 100 times on that one, baby!

Tho' if the theme is really "10 YEARS OF KFOG" I shudder to think what may turn up. Crowded House, I'm guessing.

AL asked for "your fave FUN tune each year". It's fun! (Haaaaay!) Especially the whip-crack in the beginning. Well, not that I would know...er...not my thing really...er...nevermind!

Hrm... maybe I should request "Walk the Dinosaur" for '89...
-
Someone requested The Outfield. Yoicks.

All she needs to do is watch an A's game-- she'll hear it at least 3 times (whenever Willingham comes up to bat).
ETA: I just turned on the A's game and... guess what??
-
Oops.. I missed the 'fun' part (but hey, I don't really think of "Rock This Town" as 'fun'). Still, it would be fun to hear "Love Me All Up" and "Lovergirl".

God bless you.

15 minutes in and no mention of what's happening. Let the music play indeed!

I already forgot the second song. The third is Bruce's "Pink Cadillac". Rather monotonous vocals.
-
So, we get U2 instead for '83. Whoopdie f**king doo.

ETA: Correction: "Paank Cadillac"

Thanks for trying, anyway.

And the hits keep coming...unfortunately. Man, this party's bunk!

Looks like I picked the right day to go to work.

Besides NYD being a great song, did KFOG ever play this song you wanted?
-
I think that "I'm On Fire" should have been played for '85. That way FB commenters could accurately comment "You're On Fire!"
-
Man, this party's bunk!
Looks like I picked the right day to go to work.
And I picked the wrong day not to. Open up your fruitcake.

now, on the other hand, can I join the crankypants club re: Sledgehammer?

NYD is a good, but extremely overplayed song that doesn't really belong in a 10@10. I feel those precious slots should be devoted to something more special. Besides, AL asked people for "fun" song suggestions. New Year's Day doesn't exactly scream "party song", IMO.

I'll just say it. DC has really effed up 10@10 by trying to fix something that wasn't broken. It sounds like the other 23 hours of KFOG programming now.
-
Hahaha...here's your perfunctory INXS, Swellegant!
-
"Shiny Shiny" is not normally played on KFOG, and would have been the perfect '83 entry for this set.
-
Hahaha...here's your perfunctory INXS, Swellegant!
I must say the INXS and Robert Palmer are saving this set.

While I agree about 10@10's in general, I think the point of today's set is KFOG-centric, so by definition every song should be a KFOG Katrina, or at least something they played.

Lemme guess: "Need You Tonight" and "Simply Irresistable"?

Close, "New Sensation".

note: I just got a bounceback on a message for Rastermon, who was trying to log into forum. If you know how to reach him, have him email me at geoff at ggould dot com

"Sowing the Seeds of Love" always makes me happy.

Somewhat aproptiate: That is a more fun song.

He's in the FB names list I sent you. Might wanna message him via FB if you have access where you're at now.
I love this TFF song. A masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned (and the first CD single I ever bought.)
-
I like Midnight Oil, does that make is passé?
:D
-
Good politics, but not my vibe, musically.

Agreed - overplayed as it might be, I never get tired of it. OTOH, the first CD I bought was Phil Collins' "But Seriously", and let's just say it doesn't get much play.
-
BOS Stan Freberg w/ Sarah Vaughn. Otherwise, meh.

Actually, I think I heard "fruitcage" this time.
I always assumed it was "fruitCAGE", 'cause he says "show me 'round your..." and I don't know how you would show someone 'round a fruitcake. Unless you were miniature-ized a la Fantastic Voyage. OTOH, I never met anyone who keeps their fruit in a cage.
Awfully glad I missed this (well except for Stan, Sarah and their toast-and-marmaladio); totally agree with urth re: fixing what ain't broke. I'm afraid to read the rave reviews on FB. But birthday cakes are supposed to be "on fire" I guess.

those of us who want variety aren't that into these vertical tasting things, but I'll BOS '83 '85 '90 and '91. The rest can be closed in the fruitcage.

You just aren't being creative enough.

Agreed. But I will give some love to the Stray Cats. I *loved* that album when it came out.

I'll second all of this, except for me I'd swap out 91 with 89.
