Beat me by seconds.

Here's what I posted in my shortlived topic:

No birthday club today? Or did I space?

At least this means we won't get 1984 tomorrow.  Maybe a theme set? Haven't had one since pride, have we?

Think it was a different Kenny Loggins song--Celebrate Me Home maybe?

Speaking of Footloose, here's my contribution to this week's Voice:

Loggins & Messina

Arts, Rock/Pop/Etc., By Day, Where to Hear

When schlockmeister Kenny Loggins ended one relationship last year (his marriage), he healed another, reuniting with old collaborator Jim Messina. Still, their mama don’t dance, they’re in the aim of those angry eyes, and we have no idea what “Vahevala” means. But you’ll be spared Loggins’s ’80s soundtrack smashes; this is all ’70s denim-washed soft-rock.

VVHM to Broooce, "Trapped."  Gonna be hard to top this.  Was it the B-side of one of the "Born in the USA" singles?

Dave was putting out feelers for a set of "Rock Anthems" during a discussion of same this AM, dunno if that's been decided or not.

LOL!

At least "I'm All Right" has a dancing gopher puppet to go along with it- which is more entertaining than a dancing Bacon. At least to me.

BOS for me -- it's from "USA for Africa" isn't it? which puts it in the wrong year unless it was a B-side.

wrong year, never a B-side:

per AMG: Similarly, Bruce Springsteen's moody, atmospheric cover of Jimmy Cliff's "Trapped" is available only on this collection.

well, we KNOW how Dave hates to be "busted" for inaccuracy...

ah, the inevitable Purple Rain visitation. The purple one indulges his Christ complex.

BOS to "I Would Die 4 U," because no one's written lyrics like this since Prince's heyday.  And that relentless percuss-a-shake is a nice touch.

"I Would Die 4 U" qualifies as an 'up' in my book.  I suppose it would have been 2 much 2 ask 4 for Dave to double dip from the We Are The World disc & give us Prince's "4 the Tears In Your Eyes".

ETA, of course that would have meant two songs from 1985 in an '84 set.

gotta go, have fun.  I'll listen to the next couple of tunes in my car.

Just kidding! I love Billy Idol. But, he does have a new CD coming out.

Ditto that Style Council BOS..

Probably gonna be seeing less of me - as our company is cracking down on "unapproved software" which includes any kind of iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc. I'll be reported to upper management. There's a Dilbert strip in here somewhere
Sucks!

I'm the Lone Mac in our PC network, so I have some leeway, but not much!

What complete BS. If my company did that, there'd be mass mutiny.

I hope they don't bust people for Windows Media Player. It comes with the Windows operating system whether you want it or not.

a better-than-average '84 set. If tomorrow's not a theme, it may well be '69 or (dare we hope?) '67.

not a good set to have slept through, it seems. i never knew bruce's "trapped" was a jimmy cliff cover. i'll have to find the original, now. would that dave play "4 the tears in your eyes" one day. there are a few good singles on that album, actually, like the pointer sister's version of robbie nevil's "just a little closer," and tina's "total control."

nice piece, gaz! but obviously "vahevala" is jamaican for "home of sailor.":)

sorry to hear about the fascists, rastermon.

I only missed the last 2 songs, "My Ever Changing Moods" & "The Ghost In You", but they are 2 of my top 4 or 5 songs from the year!  That on top of the rare Bruce & the BOC & the novel BBC newsclips make this one of the all-time 1984 sets.  Gonna try to roll tape tomorrow morning.
