Where is everybody?
the first song came & went with no topic posted.
My BOS goes to "Texas", and I'm leaving now to go to that 3rd interivew.
Wish me luck! If the V.P. likes me (or at least doesn't DISlike me) I should get the job. Will probably be told today if it goes well.
Watch me walkin'...

Where is everybody?
1989 sets don't exactly make me come a-runnin'...
Chris Rea, "Texas"...I'm feeling sleepy already.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
-
"ed-ja-kay-shun."
you go, herbie.
-
Mr Penn, "No Mythtrina". Oh Dave, please check out a Billboard chart from '89 one of these years...
-
I like the way George Sr read the word "ridicule" from his teleprompter: ridicle.
I don't know what I'd wear if it weren't for black jeans.
-
BOS: JEFF HEALEY!!!!!

Romeo in black jeans was restless, he was ready to kill...
VHM Jeff Healy's "Angel Eyes" but this is still snoozeville for the most part.

Big flashback for me. Not my fave Healey song, but it WAS his big hit.
He rocks in Roadhouse.

Yep. Funny movie. You can't enjoy it if you take it very seriously.

i should enjoy it, then. i never take anything very seriously.

VHM Dylan just 'cause it wasn't "Everything's Broken".
-
the inevitable FYC -- at least it ain't "Good Thing". if only Dave WOULD "look back", he'd see interesting stuff in '89. Was/Not Was... Neneh Cherry...

that was FYC? didn't even recognise the voice...quite different from "good thing." i think that's the only song i know. unless they had another hit.

You definitely know "She Drives Me Crazy."
I came in late and have found the set uninspired, hence my silence. Hope all is well with all of you!

"She Drives Me Crazy"
HM to a FYC song that I've never heard before and wasn't too annoying...

"She Drives Me Crazy" (#1) and "Don't Look Back" were also hits. And I loved them at the time but Dave's single-handedly made them a cliche. And speaking of, "End of the Innocence", another great song ruined by repetition.

Where is everybody?
Been slightly scarce--threw my back out moving some furniture and stuff over the weekend, was out yesterday, and am just catching up today.
VHM to Don Henley if only for this line: "those tired old men we elected king..."

actually singular: "This tired old man"... very obviously Ronnie.
BOS , "God part (U)2"

"she drives crazy." that's it. :)
a downer set, indeed. and all male voices, so far. could we have 10k maniacs in this set? or kate bush?

vhm: tears for fears. 'cause this song always sounds so cool.

BOS, for the same reason. Jeff Lynne wishes he could get records to sound this good.
-
BOS to TFF, "The Seeds of Love." Y'all have no idea how much I've loved this song ever since it came out. And "kick out the Style, bring back the Jam" is a damn clever line that no one seemed to notice.

Or Tina. Or Samantha Fox. Or Cher. Or Ms Jackson if-yer-nasty. I'd even settle for Paula Abdul at this point.

So were they feuding with Mr Weller? Or just not fond of his ties to the Labour Party?
-
Anyone listening post set? The Police's Every Breath You Take sounded like someone was having fun with the pitch control--it would get slower, then speed up, then slow down again--pretty much thru the entire song. Wacked.
-
Bonus: Pixies, "Here Comes Your Katrina".
-
Where is everybody?

I thought they were making a dual play on notions of "back to basics": the Jam were a less ornamented outfit than the Style Council, plus the longing to make music about Big Important Things (MC5's "Kick Out the Jams") vs New Wave fluffery style. (That TFF's production was overbloated and far removed from "back to basics" is besides the point -- Roland Olzabal's always been a bucket of contradictions.)
