First pre-'85 '80s set in over a month, FWIW.
Fave FB post so far: the guy who said we need to be careful because there's SO MUCH BAD MUSIC IN THE '80s... and then requested "Pros & Cons of Hitch-hiking" and REO Speedwagon. ::)

I'm not saying I would agree with this guy's taste, but when I think of bad 80's music (which may be good 80's music to others) Roger Waters and REO certainly don't fall into that category. I would classify REO Speedwagon as bad 70's music, but that's just me. Roger Waters is just...Roger Waters.
:D

It does seem kind of odd during the past month that they allowed late 60s & late 70s but not early 80s...
P&C/HH is not bad 80s music. :P REO...ehh, not a fan.

I think my point was that it seems this guy probably loved prog & mainstream rock but hated new wave & synth-pop. "Pros & Cons", if nothing else will always be a Moreytrina to me and thus one I never need hear again. REO's big commercial breakthru with dreck like "Keep on Lovin You" was an '80s phenomenon. The '70s was "when they were good" ;)

Actually, not too much chatter on FB this morning and almost nothing about SRV. Are the fogheads in a state of shock?
hmm, nothing new here. this set is going nowhere slowly.

...and here I thought you couldn't go wrong in '84. OOh, here's The Smiths to save the day! BOS
-
BOS Smiths, thank gawd.
ETA: what difference does it make if we complain to DC? Morrissey answers: "it makes none"
-
proxy of shray: General Public.
-
BOS2 Cure.

BOS2 Cure.
Agreed! VHM General Public - I just read that Mick Jones was a founding member, but bailed when he decided to start B.A.D.

-
wow, that was short!
BTW, The Sound are doing '71 today.

someone on FB called this a "nice, non-typical" '84 set. What would be typical? all Van halen and Springsteen?

I saw that and did a spit take.

more FB hilarity: Silly Foghead, who practically LIVES on AL's page, said he hadn't seen anything about there being no more marathon. ???

I think he was out of town when the s*** went down. He might be referring to not being an official post from AL or something..?

nice to see Smiths win BOS. The Cure tune was the only bustout, it seems. And the Smiths tune has been played several times by AL in her era and was her "Bonus track" several times when Dave did 1984.
