the new rotation dictates an '80s set ... but wouldn't '60s be swell? it would be the first time we hit 5 different decades in one week, if Al chose to go there.
-
It's 1969!
I requested "Matty Groves" by Fairport Convention (seconded by Geoff). Almost NO chance of that! 8+ minutes of traditional English folk/"rock" -- fogheads would be up in arms! But it would extend what is traditionally a short set. Plus it's just a great song.

Indeed, and I seconded someone's request for "Soft Parade", which would have a similar effect.
I wonder if DC has been getting comments from folks re: don't throw the 10@10 baby out with the trying-to-attract-younger-listeners bathwater. This is certainly an unexpected delight to have an "old school" week, rotation-wise.

And it's on a Friday, in accordance with the convention established under the Morey regime.

It is cool to see this, I'll admit. And I already got my 00s-90s-80s this week, so y'all can have your 60s. ;) But, now you know how I used to feel. :P (Like, that time we didn't get any 90s for four weeks.)

and we totally feel for ya (really). But if every week could be like this -- something for everybody instead of 2 '80s, 2 '90s and a pre-'1980 bone -- I don't think it would mess up the general demo-youthening, as long as they're still playing "Closing Time" 3 times a day. ;)

Richard Lewis!! that was funny... unless we're gonna hear it every day.
Banana Marley Splits!
-
Tommy!
Welcome to the Camp
BOS?
-
It's 1969 so get high and dig the Splits into Tommy! Cosmic and Faaaar Ouuut!
-
WOS, The Banana Splits
The 'oo is much better.
"you know where to put the cork" That line always made me uncomfortable. Bad imagination!
-
WOS, The Banana Splits
I'd rather a spliff than a Split, esp in 1969.
-
well, so far so overly-familiar. Even this moon landing --> Bowie segue has been done a few times. But I guess we shouldn't complain.
-
Major Tom doesn't sound like an oldie, I hear it so much

My thoughts exactly.

Good as it is, I don't need to hear it on 10@10 ever again.
-
we've heard "Aquarius" a few times recently too. There were some truly excellent suggestions in that FB thread -- hope we get 2 or 3 of 'em.
-
BOS1, "Age of Aquarius".
-
BOS to the Fifth Dimension!
Although too bad the other eleven astro-signs got shafted in the pop charts.
-
On a field trip in '69 as kids to tour our local radio station "Aquarius" was one of the 45s handed out to us. I still have it in a steel 45rpm record box deep in the back of a closet. Time to dig it out and give 'em a spin!

well, there was Dennis Coffey,"Scorpio" and "Taurus"
BOS "Barabajagl"
-
Good but not earth-shattering (or moon-shattering) set. HM to the 5D; BOS to Goo Goo Barabajagal. "Love is hot - truth is MOLTEN!"

well, there was Dennis Coffey,"Scorpio" and "Taurus"
And the Supremes' "No Matter What Sign You Are," which name-drops all the signs in the lyrics if not the title.

Was that a record skip I heard on the Donovan tune?? Adds to the authentic feel of the year :D
-
uh-oh, one of Gaz's least-faves: CSN in Marrakesh. VHM from me -- a fond radio memory.

OK, I'm sorry, we've jumped the shark with "Boy named Sue" which AL has played at least 4 times.
-
really? A boy named Katrina?
Bill or George! Anything but (a boy named) Sue!
-
"Boy Named Sue?" Again? To quote Mike, sheesh and yeesh. (or is it the other way 'round?)
-
BOS2 Cass' fab orig of "Easy Come"
-
Yawnzers to Boy Named Sue. But BOS2 to Mama Cass, coming and going easily.
-
uh-oh, one of Gaz's least-faves: CSN in Marrakesh.
"Don'tcha know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express?" Um, if I don't and we are, then I've got problems.
-
BOS to Temps and one of my fave Motown hits

Rod, if you're noticing how overplayed it is, that's really saying something. And lord knows I love Mr Cash, but... yeah.
-
Thought we'd hear the Turtles after that clip of Walter Matthau saying "Well, I'm happy together."
alas, wrong year: it's from 67.

Here's a 3-min film clip from Dec 6, 1969 of the Stones (you'll see Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Mick Taylor) and the Dead (you'll spot Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh) on the SF waterfront near The Ferry Building (note the old elevated freeway in background) waiting for a helicopter ride to the infamous Altamont concert in Livermore. As you know, The Dead decided not to play Altamont after hearing of the unrest among the crowd there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZizWlGjACY

shoutout to "Foghead Mike!"

KFOG has dropped the 10at10 Sat Morning Marathon (which sucks as many listeners are busy during the week and catch up with it on Sat's). This message on KFOG FB page:
"Yes, we’ve tweaked the weekends a little, in order to bring you the world famous KFOG mix throughout more of the day. You can still hear 10@10 twice each weekday, at 10 am and 10pm, and Acoustic Sunrise continues on Sunday mornings from 7-11 am, and Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm. We hope you’ll try it out and let us know how you adjust to the changes! Thanks so much for listening, and for getting in touch."
Needless to say, the negative replies are coming in to their FB post.
