Title: 25 July 2011: It's...1989!
Post by: radical347 on July 24, 2011, 07:49:15 PM
I requested:
Bob Mould - See a Little Light
Edwyn Collins - 50 Shades of Blue
Erasure - Drama
Adrian Belew - Oh Daddy
anything off of The Blue Nile's "Hats" album

She said we're getting Bob Mould!  :)  She also thinks we might get Indio if her boss has it...

Maybe we'll get a Heathers clip.  Oh, wait...that was '88.  Or was it '89?  D'oh!  ;)

I see RG requested Buffalo Stance.  I'm gonna miss this one, which increases the probability of AL playing it.  Gigolo...huh, sucka!

Ok, David, the exclamation point after "1989" was unnecessary...  ;)

We've now hit all of the years '85-90 in 3 weeks.  I'm not holding out much hope of my 3 requests: "Buffalo Stance", "Walk the Dinosaur", and "Twist in My Sobriety"

And -- yay -- I can post on my home computer again.

I've already made six requests, but I do thank you for reminding me of the existence of "Twist In My Sobriety".

And I forgot about "Cuddly Toy". I'll go +1 it right away.

I didn't request "Batdance", since it wouldn't be a bustout, but I have a feeling we might hear it, and it would be most welcome.

I loved it once, but sheesh.  "people say I'm obsessed..." with eliminating Katrinas wherever they're found.

agree.

I like the Cracker Camper Van Beethoven and the RHCP is a sledgehammer, believe it or not.  I played that cassette a lot.

I'm rapidly losing hope and consciousness.   Remember how thrilled we were the first time we heard this Pixies song on 10@10? But now....zzzzzzzzzzz.

and once again the FB-Fogheads are ecstatic about nearly everything we've heard so far.

Good gawd: Mr Aimee Mann. No shit myth.

per Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pictures_of_Matchstick_Men)
"In 1989, Camper Van Beethoven scored a number-one hit on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart with their version from their album Key Lime Pie."

Heard most of the set, but was singularly uninspired.  Sounded exactly like Dave on a bad day.

Thank you -- perfect description. Tons of Moreytrinas there, and I felt like a total crankypants on the AL FB page, where they were lovin' it. See the Drive thread for a Chi-town perspective on KFOG.

So, late '90s tomorrow, or perhaps the first 2001 set (gawd help us)? When you limit yourself to the years DC is, er, "suggesting"... it means years will come up more often. Kinda like when I first started listening in 1992 -- Dave's rotation was basically 1965-thru-1982 and of course "Soul Patrol" came up as often as AL's "Chartbusters" sets do now.
