I love Heathers and all, but this is getting ridic. I've requested Freak Scene and Christine - none of which will get played, I'm sure.

so the weekly pattern from here on in: two '80s, a '90s, a '00s and a '60s/'70s either/or. Swell.
I just requested
Lita Ford "Kiss Me Deadly"
Steve Earle "The Devil's Right Hand"
Debbie Harry, "Liar Liar"
I *really* wanted Gladys & the Pips' "Love Overboard" and Living Colour's "Glamour Boys" but since we heard the Pips today and LC yesterday...

Yikes... people actually wanna hear "Red Red Wine", "Roll With it", Traveling Wilburys and Phil Collins. Maybe they're working undercover for DC.
-
Some controversy re: the year -- IMDB says Heathers (which was AL's clue) is from 1988; Wiki sez it was released 3/31/89.

Following that further, the "more info" link reveals that Heathers was released in Italy in October of '88, but didn't hit the screens anywhere else until the US release on the date Geoff lists above. And the rest of its releases in Europe, Japan and Australia were over the following two years, finishing in France in July of '91.

Nonetheless, it appears we are going to '88. Perhaps the whole set will be in Italian? :)

oh my my. Can't take time to even request anything. Too late anyway. Oy.
OK. Chimed in on FB. Too late but AL wouldn't play em anyway.
Who didn't KNOW we were traveling to the 80's...again?
Wild Thing in the Wild Wild West. Tone Loc and Escape Club. Nothing but a good time? Salt-n-Pepa Push it, push it good.

Why was the bench warm? Who had been there?

is this a Proclaimers song other than "500 Miles"? don't recognize it but that's what I'm thinking.

Definitely Proclaimers. I've heard this maybe twice, but it's rare, fer sher.
Virtual jinx, Mike!
-
this is all new to me. Seriously
-
Pretty good Little Feat tune, and slightly less ubiquitous than "Let It Roll". I think this actually has quite a lot of their old sound.
-
this is all new to me. Seriously
"Anna Ng" has made numerous appearances (under Dave too) and this Little Feat (?) thing isn't new but I think the Proclaimers was a bustout.
-
aaack -- Traveling 'trinaburys.
-
That Little Feat was not so much a tune as an endurance test.

i feel that way about this Edie Brickell, which i know you lurve. I give up, indeed.

FB-ers say this is the Mighty Lemon Drops -- NTM. VHMFRA at very least. Ignored by NYC radio at the time.
unnecessary: the Oils. let's give it back, indeed.

Beds are burning, and I'm done listening. :-\

Orange Crush -> Mighty Lemon Drops = sweet
Gawd, not Midnight Oil.

BOS: Mighty Lemon Drops, They Might Be Giants
WOS: Travelin' Wilburys. Seriously, stop it. I was bored by this song in '88 and it hasn't aged well.
Welcome Bustout: Proclaimers
Katrina that I nonetheless enjoy: Midnight Oil
-
saving grace: it's nice to see bustouts winning BOS.
and in an attempt to be positive I'd also point out that (despite crappy year selection) this was the first week in a while where AL solicited requests 4 days in a row.

While it was nice to hear a non-500-Miles Proclaimers song...after hearing "I'm On My Way," I see why they're a one hit wonder. :-\ It sounded like a poor man's Men @ Work. I think AL has played one of their other songs once before though, not sure if it was this one or a different one.
3-6 were uninteresting.
I don't mind Beds are Burning either, but the Dead Heart would have been better.
I mind Orange Crush more, but :D @ that into the Mighty Lemon Drops.
-
listening to Sat morning replay and they played 1988 twice.
damn, I guess they really ARE serious about playing more 80s.
yeesh, sheesh and cheese-Louise. The Saturday marathon is no longer on my radar as of this week, and the PM replay is on a case-by-case basis (the only show I listened to twice this week was '67).
And it seems we've settled into the marathon beiing run in Mon-thru-Fri order all the time instead of switching things up from week to week.
-

agree.
interesting note on the song from Wikipedia:
"The Dead Heart is a song by Australian rock band Midnight Oil. It was first released as a single in Australia in 1986 and in the United Kingdom and the United States in 1988 after it had been included on the 1987 album, Diesel and Dust. It peaked at number four on the Australian singles chart and at number eleven on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks"
it really did get around!
