Inching our way back into the past. Good year for me, music-wise actually. I was mad fer that crazy Madchester sound! Live 105 played the hell out of The The's Jealous of Youth that year. Fancy guitar work on that one, speaking of Mancunian, by Johnny Marr.
Someone actually requested Taylor Dayne. I die!
-
well I for one am getting very depressed. I'm betting we get 2001-02-03-04-05 added one per week between now and mid-August, 2 '80s sets per week, a '90s and as a Friday treat a '70s (and probably LATE '70s at that).

We should start picketing on Hawthorne.
Now I'm depressed. Someone just requested Black Velvet.

But I loved the guy who requested:
Losing My Religion - R.E.M.
Loser - Beck
Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band
All THREE of which are NOT from 1990.
-
I probably just exposed myself to a throttling on AL's fb page for 1990. I dissed those making random banter vs. making valid, intelligent requests and blamed it on the year. I'm irritated by the applauding of 2000 and comments like "Listening to the Dennis show now, I wish he was on more, I like him..." STFU says me to he who says stupid shit.
Man do I have the cranky panties on...

Lordy I hope you correct him. Please?

Bwahahaha! I must say I'm kinda surprised by the enthusiasm on FB for 2000 and 1990... '90s years generally have gotten half the reaction that a typical '60s or '70s request thread gets. Is DC right? is there this great unserved audience of folks who were in high school in 1993? Have they been emailing him saying "PLEASE! No More Geezer 10@10s!!"??

That would be the quintessential Silly Foghead. He says stuff like that all the time. Or worse.

I'm way down now. No -- really, I am. World 'Trina is our TOTHK.
Swellegant gets his Suicide-a blond. Clairol or L'Oreal?
-
Woof, woof, woof. HM to Janes Addiction.
-
"Been Caught Stealing" a base... oy. WOS Jane's.

I really like this song (my band used to play it), but didn't we just hear this? I know I heard it recently, but I don't know where...
-
WOS2 the Crowes. Sorry, never liked 'em, never will.
-
Not a huge fan of the BC, but they have far worse songs than this. And this one did get a ton of FB requests...
-
It's AL's (and Dave's) greatest 1990 hits. Sheesh, corporate programmers suck.
What really does not compute here is that DC came in and with great fanfare beefed up the off-the-beaten-path tracks on the regular rotation (just this morning I heard Jorma Kaukonen's "Genesis") -- "it's Different Here", "Hand-Picked By Humans" etc. So turning 10@10 -- of all things -- into a "no weirdness allowed" zone is just nonsensical.

We've heard the Sinbad/Sinead intro at least twice before.

I haven't heard it. Who was that?

Phil Hartman, you youngster, you!
This set is putting me to sleep.

Across the River from Bruce Hornsby & the Range! BOS. Have we heard this one before?

Phil Hartman on SNL.

Gotta BOS The Charlatans UK. Now, were talkin'...

amazingly, this may be a bustout. Not in the Morey era db and I couldn't get it to come up in a search of more recent times.
-
BOS for
Stone Roses er, Charlatans UK, who sound like they want us to Hush.
-
BOS2 Charlatans UK.
-
I'll have to BOS "Across The River"... arguably my favorite "Range" hit.
Even though I'm glad she played "Suicide Blonde" as well, it doesn't seem as if this set has been very fulfilling. Perhaps we'll hear (as well as experience) "Summer Rain".
-
Gotta give The Roses a BOS...
-
NOW, here's the Stone Roses. Good tune.
-
HM DM, another frequent flier.
-
BOS3 to Policy of Truth...we got a lot of Personal Jesus requests but I like this one (as well as Enjoy the Silence) better.
-
Living Colour, loved these guys -- saw them at CBGB's back then (88?)
-
Living Colour? a bustout? if so, BOS.

and if not...? :P

well, then I guess it's still a rarity compared to most of what we heard. ;)
-
Just couldn't make myself tune in. I really was angry/surly/cranky last night. I'm no youngster but I certainly have no depth of knowledge in this musical era.

I'm already formulating my email to DC; just waiting to see how bad Thurs & Fri sets are (or aren't). DC was PD at KINK in Portland and their 10@10 was also '80s/'90s-centric and incuded sets from the '00s. And when they cancelled 10@10 up there... nobody noticed.

I hope I'm wrong But... I suspect another '80s set tomorrow and Friday '70s (or vice-versa).

How about:
Thursday: A preview of the next Live From The Archive disc
Friday: Best of Live From The Archive
That way, we can't possibly be disappointed.
