Just posted; AL didn't technically ask for suggestions but that didn't stop me from requesting Graham Parker anyway.
But I'm baffled by the Liberace reference and WTF is Frederick Goodrum talking about?

Frampton! Disco Duck, Fooled Around and fell in love, Night Moves, Only Sixteen, Abba, Gary Wright..... too many choices.

uh... I don't want to hear any of the above, but I bet we get at least 2 from AL. ;)

I imagine we'll also hear some "Buy-centennial" clips.

Just because a record has a groove don't make it a TOTHK.
-
I'll give Sir Duke an early BOS -- I loved this song for years. And a minor Mondegreen: I thought he was saying "you can tell right away it's got the A when the people start to move". I thought the people gave the song high marks!
-
WOS Wild Cherry. Yeesh & sheesh this one needs to be mothballed for at least a year.
And I realize ALL sets start out this way but please gawd: at least one bustout today.
-
The other week at the county fair I met the Wild Cherry guitarist who recorded that famous guitar lick (not the lead singer), Bryan Bassett is now with Foghat!

One of my all time nemesis songs. I hate everything about it.
-
BOS Still the One. This does take me back.
-
You'll recall that in late 70s "Still The One" was used as a jingle for ABC-TV network, even though their record division had dropped Orleans three years earlier!
-
Fly like a 'trina. Yeesh & Sheesh2
"how's the people?"
-
BOS to the Space Shuttle! Fly Like an Eagle indeed!
-
Shuttle clip > Fly Like An Eagle: timely with this morning's launch of the last shuttle.
-
Shoo the children with no shoes on their feet! Oh, ho, there's a solution.
-
BOS the Dan, best of a painfully over-familiar lot so far.
Tho' i prefer to get a *short* Kid Charlemagne -- fits better in the trunk.
-
BOS for "Kid Charlemagne"! The Dan played this as their encore on Tuesday night. Great show with several rarities.
-

Nice pic, I just missed seeing in person the shuttle Atlantis blast off in 1991, oh well. Play some ' Dan.

which is more than we can say for this set...

HM the Dan
-
BOS2 Tubes, hardly a rarity but welcome in a sea of AOR overplayedness.
-

Where was that?
The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, just a few miles from my house. The best place to see a show. It was perfect on Tuesday, warm with a nice breeze.
-
BOS Tubes
ah hell why not. touch me please. Yeah, right there.
-
BOS Mary Harmann
WOS Stones!
-
BOS3 Mary Hartman.

Shocking
-
Scott Fisher thinks the Tubes are Australian. damn, he's downright surreal some days.
-
man, NYC must have been a pit back in 76 to garner a pep talk from the Stones.
-
VHM Leon Russell!
-
BOS4 Leon Russell with a Morey fave.
-
man, NYC must have been a pit back in 76 to garner a pep talk from the Stones.
"JAGGER TO NYC: DON'T DROP DEAD"
-
I'll give a BOS for "Logan's Run" with the estimable Jenny Agutter. And Michael York, for that matter.
"You can't be 30, on Sugar Mountain in that Logan's Run city..." That doesn't scan very well.
-
Almost HM to Leon Russell, but the cheezy jungle noises and backing vox make it a little Muppet-y.
-

It was, on verge of bankruptcy in '75 when then Mayor Beame requested a federal bailout. NYC is amazing now versus how it looked in '70s.

Muppets in Fern Bars! Yes, I'll give this a BOS.

BOS4 Leon Russell with a Morey fave.
BOS Leaon. Dave always seemed to close the set with this.
-
VHM Dreamboat Annie, it's like I'm cruising through the Valley, listening to the Eagle!

But AL has Heart.
-
oh 'Trina, dreamboat 'Trina... ship of overexposed dreams.
Next week better be better, AL.
This will be one Saturday marathon I have no need to hear.
-
VHM Dreamboat Annie, it's like I'm cruising through the Valley, listening to the Eagle!

sorry, we just expect so much from AL after 2 years of brilliance. I really hope this was just an "off" week and not the result of management memos.

Quite a while, actually. Married in '86, divorced last year (per wiki).
Today's set was better, but I'm still getting a pretty heavy MOR vibe from most of what we heard this week. I hope you're right that it was just an off week for AL. If the suits are having their say, it can't be good for any of us.
(Anyone recall the Famine of 2000, when for about three straight months, Dave rarely played a set earlier than '78? Those were cold, hard times, many didn't survive....)

yes -- Star 101 went all-'80s and Dave was forced to do '80s sets every day (tho' I don't remember it lasting 3 months; def 4-6 weeks tho'). Horrible, and the only time I can remember such a narrow focus that lasted so long. Somebody upstairs clearly went into panic mode. Of course Star's all-'80s thing didn't exactly take off like a rocket either.
Given that the rest of Constantine's programming tweaks are on the loosening-up rather than the tightening side... all this stuff about "it's different here" and "music hand-picked by humans" and Dred Scott playing old KFOG airchecks (!)... I can't imagine he'd want AL to make 10@10 blander.

You guys are scaring me! When Geoff and Mike find that much common ground, it's a sign of the apocalypse.

BOS, Elvin Bishop. Huge sledgehammer for me. WOS, Steve Miller, though I loved the song at one time. Don't even recall the Stones tune. Probably would have hated it if I hadn't been in a meeting at the time.
I am out. Vacation, all I ever wanted...
-
I belive that "The Famine of 2000" was only about three weeks long - things like that always seem longer in retrospect than they actually were. I suppose I could look at the club site to see if I can figure it out, but that would take some effort.
I'd rate this week's sets:
1985
1997
1976
1980's
but yeah, not a very good one.
