ETA: Tinka...OMG! ;D

TANC: This is your chance to request Company B!
ha -- given we'll hear it Sunday morning, I'll pass. I suspect we'll get a lot of tried'n'true, despite some cool requests. (my 3 suggesttions: Danny Wilson, "Mary's Prayer"; Warren Zevon, "Sentimental Hygiene"; and Aretha & George "I Knew You Were Waiting".
But good gawd, someone requested Robbie Nevil...
ETA -- I didn't realize Tink had done the deed, re: "Fascinated". OK, +1.
-
And all this time I thought Tinka was Steve Slaght... well I learned something!

Is this heat getting to you?? All this "Big Love" FB talk. Mon dieu! ;)
I used to think Tinka & Ali were Mr & Mrs Cat! I wasn't sure which one was the Mrs, either!

yes, although it will be heard on AT40 this weekend, not may Fogheads tune in for that show. So I figure 'let's let them hear it tomorrow -- and possibly slug it out!' We shall scraifice our listening experience for the greater good. (Plus I was drawing a blank on suggesting anything else .... so thanks for the FB suggestion, sundaygal)
Steve Slaght? Well, at least no one thought I was that ... other guy! :)
(I keed!)

BOS "Hot Hot Hot"!! Ole Ole!
How this failed to be a Top 40 hit (despite some pretty massive airplay that year) is a mystery
-
I still can't stand this song. Although it is pretty "hot, hot, hot" here in Madrid today.
-
BOS2 Peter Wolf, "Come as You Are"! awesome start so far.
-
Woohoo! BOS, Peter Wolf!
ETA: could have been in the Saxy set.

LOL. I am the Mrs. married to a "Bob"cat. Funny a few months ago when me and my Bobcat ran into Tinka and his missus at a restaurant.

Was never a fan of it either, but it's hot hot hot on the 38 Geary now. Ugh. Hey, at least it's a Limited!
-
BOS Come as you are.

WOS Max Headroom. VHM the Replace-trinas.

uber-BOS3 Danny Wilson's GORGEOUS "Mary's Prayer" -- Bustout of the week.
-
Wow so far so good (I think "Come As You Are" and "Mary's Prayer" might be bustouts).
-
Great request. Love this song!

Yes, you're lucky!
The last time I was on the 38 was in December. I was on my way to the DMV, and I recognised the man who'd sat next to me on the flight from Amsterdam to SF. He was Dutch, but lived in SF, and had been working in Iran for the previous six months. He'd been very excited (as much as someone as stern as he was could display excitement) to go home. So, when I see him on the bus two days later, he pulls out his SF taxi license, and tells me he's on his way to renew it. He also shows me his airline ticket back to Iran three days later. He was quite upset about having to go back so soon (he would have to miss Christmas with his family). I displayed sympathy. What I did not display was my utter confusion at why an SF taxi driver would be shuttling commuting to work in Iran.
BOS#1: Danny Wilson.

BOS4 Broooce; would love to hear the Mavericks version of this in a '94 set.
-
Wow so far so good (I think "Come As You Are" and "Mary's Prayer" might be bustouts).
AL played the Peter Wolf once before, in one of her first 1987 sets iirc. But a serious rarity.
-
Just when I was about to call this the best '87 set evah: we go to hell in a bucket.
-
BOS#2: Hell in a Bucket!!!!

My only 38 Geary story had to do with the 2003 Ka-Boom! The driver basically treated all red lights as stop signs, proceeding to go forward if (in his mind) there was no cross-traffic. I think that was also my last Muni experience.

time inching closer to beertime at the ballpark..............
-
for a sec I thought we might get Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes!
BOS6 Cure.

Yikes! Reminds me of the bus drivers in the suburbs here who open the doors while the bus is still moving (fast).

This set could've used a dose of something dancey and pop. Or some Prince. Or something. C'mon, it's '87!
-
I think it's about 1986 where 10@10s start leaning towards the KFOG playlist, as opposed to what was popular or what people really want to hear.

Duly noted sir! This is one of the snarkiest of all GD songs, so perhaps there's some common ground?
;)

5. Danny Wilson - Mary's Prayer
6. Bruce Springsteen - All That Heaven Will Allow
(News: PTL & Moral Majority)
7. Grateful Dead - Hell In A Bucket
It didn't hit me until the replay how clever this trifecta of "Prayer", "Heaven" and "Hell", surrounded by Jim & Tammy clips, really was.
