1968 according to AL's FB. Hurry, submit your requests and save the set from the usual FB requests!!
-
'68 can never ever suck. But there are some painfully overexposed suggestions there.
Got a good feeling, tho' -- made my 3 suggestions ("Can't Find the Time" by Orpheus, TJ's "Help Yourself" and Tammy's "D-I-V-O-R-C-E") and saw that 2 other songs from my wishlist were requested by others ("Some Velvet Morning" and the Association's unfairly forgotten "Time For Living").

Yeah, "Hey Jude" is, uh, unmentionable.

I have mercifully not made any of my typical requests. Being my HS graduation year, I'll probably be happy, regardless of the angle. There was so much in '68.

argh, my freaking machine at home is out of date to the point where I can't make facebook comments. I would request Dave Clark Five's Maze Of Love if I could.

Did anyone request any Small Faces?? My ex had a copy of Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake on vinyl...I remember the cover being completely round. Should've nicked it from him! ;)

not that I saw. :( Afterglow would be a nice choice. Or Lazy Sunday. Anything from side one, actually. I can't really see 10at10 featuring anything from side two of ONGF.
'Allo Missus Jones! How's your bird's lumbago?

Lazy Sunday.... 'Allo Missus Jones! How's your bird's lumbago?
a song I'd never heard until I started listening to Capital Gold back in 2002 (wow -- nine years ago!) and they used to play it a LOT.

ETA: someone on FB "doesn't know who does this song" but heard it in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Like, OMIGAWD!
Timothy Leary's still dead.

I've got a CD rerelease of it that came in a round tin with the mono and stereo versions, as well as a Radio One-produced documentary about the album (which of course I have never listened to). GREAT album.

Bustout of the week: Shorty Long, "Here Comes the Judge"!
-
BOS1 Shorty Long! Stop eatin' that fudge!
-
chillax, Mr. Webb..!
Here, close your eyes and stick out your tongue. There you go.
is this Flip Wilson? I see that it's Shorty Long..? I guess Flip borrowed...
-
It would REALLY blow me away if AL followed it with Pigmeat Markham's proto-rap of the same title.

I'm gobsmacked that it's not in the shraytabase -- surely Dave played it in a Soul Patrol set?

radio stations in NYC at the time played both versions because they were both selling well in black record stores.

Unfortunately, it's Larry who'll be adding the bottoms. He has always grossed me out for some reason.

BOS3 de chunky Mama. But other than Shorty Long, AL's sticking to the tried-n-true a bit too much for my taste.

OMFG! BOS4 the Association, speaking of stereo separation! one from my wishlist and most welcome.

This band is great. They make me feel good. What more is there? And they had an Asian guitarist!

and I didn't even request it (someone else did -- I love it when that happens!)

sorry, "Mrs Robinson" is completely unnecessary.

I've seen that release at Amoeba, and I've stood there fondling the case until I get dirty looks (which happens quite a bit at Amoeba, now that I think of it..) I could never pull the trigger and make the purchase, though. I have too many DCDs at this point and need to find a way to cut weight.

That was awesome. It was even a kind of tribute to Stevie Nicks (aka the Goat) when they closed the show with "Landslide".

Best ep of this (half-)season; they've been slightly off, IMHO, but that's understandable given their preoccupation with Book of Mormon. And clearly it was a metaphor for how they view themselves.

OMFG! BOS4 the Association, speaking of stereo separation! one from my wishlist and most welcome.
I don't think I've heard this one, and I had my head glued to the radio back then. Perhaps it was regional?
I also find the guitar work on Mrs. Robinson excellent, and quite expressive.

barely scraped into the Top 40 (#39 peak) so I'll wager a lot of folks never got to hear it.
And I take full responsibilty for geoff's "jaded and spoiled" comment -- the thing is, I listen to/monitor all 5 10@10s every day and warhorses like "Matchstickmen" and "Mrs Robinson" show up regularly, so, yeah, i'd rather hear something I've never heard on 10@10 before given the choice ;)
