OMFG!!! uber-BOS2 Petula, sleeping in the subway (which, in Brit parlance is NOT a train that runs underground, it's simply a tunnel).
Tony Hatch: underappreciated genuis. (and probably a bustout)
-
and one for Jim

Unless AL grabs a hold of some serious album tracks, this will be a pretty quick set!

Wasn't there a UK poll of some sort a couple years back that ranked this as the most popular song in UK history?

BOS4 JA!

I do believe that's right. #1 single over there; zilch in the US.

We arrive at the 3rd of June....
-
Valley of the Dolls RULES!!!
and so does "OTBJ" -- another sleepy dusty delta (birth)day BOS5.
I'll never forget a "My 3 Songs" on the 3rd of June back in '95 or '96... Dave played "Papa was a Rolling Stone" and "Pride in the Name of Love" and OF COURSE the 3rd song was "OTBJ" but I couldn't get thru on the phone and NOBODY got it.
-
We arrive at the 3rd of June....
Does this mean we get to hear C.W.McCall on Monday?
-
Papa passed around the Black Eyes Peas. Except for Fergie - her, he kept for himself.
Happy 3rd of June.

Good question; we should ask. Maybe we can hear that and "Desiree"!

Papa passed around the Black Eyes Peas.
The first song I learned to play on guitar. What memories...

I can see it in my mind as I hear it. Nice.
-
I love your hair and eyes and mouth too!
VHM Monkees
-
Is "Gentle on My Mind" a bustout? It's marvy to hear today.
And AL's used this Monkees clip before.
-
(http://www.retroplanet.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/The_Monkees_Daydream_Believer.jpg)
this must be a reissue as Arista did not exist back in '67

A one-time member of the Wrecking Crew, no? Although I got to give a shoutout to the banjo player on that track.

Indeed. "Daydream Believer"'s original B-side was the band-penned "Goin' Down."

oops, I thought it *was* the Monkees take. Nilsson gets the BOS7, then

Is it striking anyone else that this set is almost exactly what one hears in the soundtracks of the movies of that era? Not a bad thing, mind...
-
I've heard this before, but never knew the title!

Was AL alive in 67??
Could be that she's 44 today? (this is 2 years in a row that she's featured '67 on her B-day)
-
I was about to save this mp3, and noticed I was about to over-write last year's AL Bday set - of 1967. Note that for next year.
-
And Herb Alpert adds a cherry on top to conclude. Well played, AL.
Herb was adorable back in the day. :)
-
a daydream Katrina and an old closet queen (even that joke's been used twice this week!)
and BTW, John Stewart (who wrote it) did his own version of "Daydream Believer" where he actually did change the line to "old closet queen".
-
I hear ScarJo is available again!
Did Sean dump her?

Rushmore's soundtrack is absolutely superb, but I kinda dug the Brazilian covers of Bowie songs by Seu Jorge in The Life Aquatic, too.
