RIP Jeff Conaway...
And deliver us from "Hot Child in the City", "At the Station" and (aaack) "Thunder Island", among the first requests in the thread.
ETA: and "Excitable Boy"? seriously?
-
I've requested the usual suspects, along with "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais". Disclaimer: Brief nudity, drugs and disco lights may be featured in this set!
-
Hate to keep bashing Fogheads -- it's almost too easy -- but how long has AL been doing the "here's tomorrow's year/make your requests" shtick now? Yet there's a post on her FB page from some woman saying "Looking forward to 10@10, and hope that it's a good year! (60s or 70s)" Er, scoll down a couple of inches, babe...
-
aaack! "Greased Lightning". Kenickie lives! Can't honestly BOS or HM this but nice to hear a song from Grease that's actually from the original stage score.

No kidding. It's just one step above those jackasses who post "This July has three Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This is called 'snake eyes', and it hasn't happened in 858 years".
Try 2005. Yes, it bugs me more than it should, but that's life lately.
-
First a hickey from Kenickie -- now a lap dance from Seger.
-
BOS Ramones! "Needles and Pins-ah"
-
BOS Ramones! "Needles and Pins-ah"
YES! Gets my vote.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Nick Gelding, er, Gilder.
-
And deliver us from "Hot Child in the City"
No such luck. Still a great song, though.

was wondering about this. Is Conaway featured more heavily on this version?
RIP to Jeff. he came in to where I where I worked about 10 years ago and he looked sorta bad.
I always think of 1983 when I hear Seger's OLRnR b/c of Ricky Business.

will we get a Chapman/Chinn twin-spinn? or trifecta?

I've always been under the impression that the 45 versions of this and "Summer Nights" were remixed to de-emphasize the cast members who weren't ONJ or JT (you can barely hear Stockard Channing on "Summer Nights) so this musta been the LP version.
OMFG! BOS2 H&O with my request -- I'm on a roll here lately.

VHM: H&O

VHM Rod the Bod -- lovely, tho' I just heard it on Casey's '78 chart this weekend. I blame it on the wine.

funny how things change...in 1978 I had become a dedicated prog-rocker nerd & absolutely hated Disco & anything associated with it, which meant hating not only Saturday Night Fever & the Bee Gees, but John Travolta generally, Olivia Newton-John generally, Abba, etc. (and some definite inner conflict since I'd bought the 45's of "Have You Never Been Mellow" & "Knowing Me, Knowing You" the previous couple years...oh, and also "Mandy" ::) ).
Now the only one of those I still cringe at is HYNBM, but I still want to go back & watch Grease (for the first time).
While I was typing I had a BOS for Rod, who I was becoming ambivalent about that year, and OH WOW, here's another one for "Home & Dry". I think this is my favorite Gerry R. song.

thanks man! I only caught a few snippets of 10at10 last week in real time & missed the marathon altogether in favor of a daytrip to the mountains (colder than desired & sometimes rainy, but my first bonafide 4-wheel drive action!). But when I realized I wasn't going to get to hear the Sat. replay I had the clear thought: I wonder how many 'proxy of Shray' from Mike I missed.
ahh well.

I felt/feel the same, though I really enjoy Rafferty's work with Steelers Wheel (beyond 'Stuck In The Middle')!

"at long last, sir... have you NEVER been mellow??"
it's still cringe-worthy. As is Grease -- beloved as it is by a generation, it's not a very good movie and the orig stage production (I saw it off-B'way in '72) was much more fun.

Another encore from this past week's AT40. It's A Heartache, call 9-1-1!

Chuck always sounds good!! I think I have to change my vote. Again.

Is the flugelhorn considered a metal instrument??

OMFG!! Chuck Mangione, direct from the Mega-Lo-Mart! (and our 3rd Casey K repeat track).
-
It's been a while since I got a request played! BOS to Mr. Mangione.
-
OH. MY. GOD.
The biggest sledgehammer of my entire life is Chuck Mangione. I've got a pretty cool anecdote for this, but I can summarize in two words:
First Kiss.
-
Is the flugelhorn considered a metal instrument??
even heavier than a flute!
-
Right arm! Rochester's own Chuck Mangione on the flugelhorn.

if you look up "smooth jazz" in the dictionary, you'll find this.

"Stay away, you never know what you'll catch!"
I've really tried not to pay any attention to the Arnold/Maria/whatshername saga, but the only thing my wife said was, "Are you kidding me!? She looks terrible! What was he THINKING!?"

a fine set -- one of AL's rare late-'70s excursions to (mostly) eschew punk/new wave in favor of pop. No complaints here, esp since we avoided "Thunder Island" and "Dreadlock Holiday", both of which were requested.

First a hickey from Kenickie
Perhaps not the best choice from AL: Conaway was apparently perturbed that Travolta stole the song for the movie. (It should have been Kenickie's to sing.)
-
Great set, I was driving up 101 into SF listening. My BOS goes to Rafferty. It all sounded so good. Rod into Rafferty then Bonnie hit just the right spot. The rest wasn't too shabby either.

well, duh. The list of things changed from the stage show for the film is a very long one.

I meant "duh" as in "no one's surprised that Travolta was a song-stealing diva" ;)

nice guitar solo
listening to replay, am still impressed with solo in the Rod Stewart song. Does anyone have the LP w/liner notes? It seems too good for just a Rod Stewart song. Kind of like those guitar solos on Carpenters records!
