the Lawrence Welk show is shown on, I think, channel 9-2 (KTEH) late Saturday nights. It's very fun to watch. There's something about it. The people dancing in that cramped area in front of the audience seats, wearing those wonderfully dated fashions, all that polyester, the cat eye glasses, etc. When I start watching I get mesmerized. The music is often waaaay hokey, but they're were pros.
as someone posted in the comments on SFGate:
"Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
Good Night!"

My grandma made me watch the Welk show as a kid and I just hated it -- I think I usually wanted to see Get Smart which aired opposite Welk. *shudder*

I used to watch it with my aunt. My favorite part was when the tap dancer dude came on!

Yes, I too recall being forced to watch his show when I'd rather see something else, but it did have it's moments. For example, watch what happens 39-sec into this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw8QIbkw6dE
Here's his take on the younger generation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFmSv2WFDrs
And dig this tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i48BP1PUoFI
