Title: 26 April 2011: it's... 1972
Post by: RGMike on April 25, 2011, 08:30:38 PM
Last one for me before vacay.  BTW, Tim, I think AL played the Danny O'Keeffe hit within the last 6 months.

ETA: It was indeed in a '70s Chartbusters set on Nov 4th.

Thanks, Rod. I will indeed be spending my B-Day in NYC.  I'll be "connected" for the first time, tho' I don't know how many 10@10s I'll actually get to hear.

I hope Dicky Betts is OK. My understanding is that he was ousted from the latest version of the Allman Brothers because he couldn't keep his addictions (alcohol, most likely) under control. Of course, you can't complain about Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks.

You don't tug on Pusherman's cape.  Or Luca Brasi's.

VHM "RP&tBWF"  we used to refer to Johnny Rivers '70s hits as his "bi-annual remakes".

It's sad, but the split seems bitter, in a Pink Floyd kind of way, lawsuits and all.  Betts is the creative spark behind much of what we think of as the Allman Bros sound.  I met him once, quite a country boy, but could he ever play.
