Anyone heard a clue as to where we're going today? Haven't been to 1969 since mid-May and 68 in nearly as long, so either could be likely. On the other hand, a Soul Patrol would be entirely welcome, if DM goes the theme route.
-
yay 68!
-
play that rockin'... er... hurdy-gurdy? VHM Donovan. Totally out in the ether, but then it WAS 1968.
-
And a fine fine start indeed, Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man.
Trivia: who's the lead guitar player on this track?
-
This song kinda freaks me out. I mean- I like it OK. But, there's just something about the quality of Donovan's voice in this song that's just.. freaky. I dunno.
It's been a looooong 4-day work-week, mein leiblings.

I'm guessing someone from LedZep?

Well, that didn't take long. Yep, 'tis Pagey, wearing his session ace hat.
-
2 of Dave's fave '68 Katrinas in a row: "Baby Come Back" & "Do it Again". Pleasant enuf, but hope there are some surprise nuggets in store.
-
BOS1, Quicksilver Pride of Man. Second virtuoso guitarist of set, too--Cippolina ruled.

Little Steven played it recently and I'm sure he mentioned it.

We've done this in my church band, but not quite this good!

I wondered if it was Beck, since he was on Barabajagal (sp?). Wrong Yardbird I guess. Source of trivia?

VHMs Beatles (yay), "Rocky Raccoon".
"her name was McGill
and she called herself Lil
but everyone knew her as Nancy..."
she was the 'ho at the hoe-down!
-
"but everyone knew her as Nancy..."
-
BOS S&D. Ah thanks ya!
-
"but everyone knew her as Nancy..."
Is that a Firesign reference? I vaguely remember one of my friends quoting it ad nauseam in about the 6th grade. And which came first--Rocky Raccoon or the sketch in question?

Yes, it's from Nick Danger, from their second album. And yes, we (ST fans) can be quite obnoxious about the surreal riffing. The Beatles came first. After more than 30 years, I'm still warped.

Bend me, shape me
I can't keep up, people keep interrupting.

Morning Dew
yay!

Just the arcana that I've accumulated over the years. Not sure where I first learned that.
Ah, here's your Jeff Beck. BOS2 Morning Dew.
-
Just a great version of the song.
-
I talked the Boy's Dean into letting me play this over PA during the caucus of a model convention in our auditorium!
-
Page, Beck, Clapton
-
Page, Beck, Clapton
geoffgould: good job on the Yardbirds hat trick
davemocal: thankyew!

urthwerm: Doing the Yardbird trifecta, eh? Very nice.
urthwerm: BOS Jeff Beck, Morning Dew
davemocal : WOW! Good one!
-
damn -- phone call made me miss the Peppermint Trolley Co.!! Gaz will be pissed too.
-
Bonus track: after teasingly mentioning "Delilah" and "Harper Valley PTA", Annalisa gives us Sly, "Dance to the Music".
Time for CGSS!

Ho. Ly. Shit.
This song sounds SO much better Friday night 1:10am.
How did I miss its greatness last time, when Dave introduced me to the song?

Please forgive my impertinent question, but was this song unfamiliar recently?

I had never heard "Pride of Man" (to my knowledge) before a few months or so ago. If memory serves, Dave had included it in a tribute set to SF artists (but I could be mistaken).

BOS to "Bend Me, Shape Me." This song works as sort of a litmus-test of my personality; i.e., if you get this, you'll get me.
