One of my favorite years in music. Punk, disco, Wuthering Heights, Feels So Good...what's not to like?? Wait...don't quote me on that...
-
I can hardly wait. Just made my FB requests. Nothing earth shattering but I'd sure like to hear a few.

Loved all your requests, Ali. I hope AL gets her boogie shoes on tomorrow!

yes, good ones from the 10at10ers here (Sunday, urth, A-Cat).
btw, AL is promising/threatening this one: "I was thinking of Mick w/Peter Tosh this time maybe....walk and don't look back..."

you'll hear 3 out of 4 (no Kate Bush) on Casey Kasem's March '78 chart this weekend.
-

She noted that it was in lieu of playing something from "Some Girls", since she hit that LP on our last '78 outing -- which is encouraging IMHO; it means she really does keep track and tries not to repeat too often.
-
instant BOS Cheap Trick -- "On the Radio" is, er, on the radio!

I saw the facebook post last night but couldn't come up with anything from '78 that I wanted to hear bad enough to request. I considered "Far Away Eyes", but that IS what she played last time, even though I was in a meeting that day and did not hear it.

if the radio's on you gotta pump it up! VHM EC, who wants to torture her and talk to her -- not necessarily in that order..

Talk first, torture later? Sometimes it's better not to talk.

agree! and to follow up, Peter Gabriel's On The Air is just that, too

more radio tunes: PG's "On the Air" is a bustout, I think. BOS2FRA.
is "Wavelength" next?
-
this ELO rarity gets a VHM for sheer WTF-iness. Tho' I guess a rain song makes sense today.
-
uber-BOS3 the Motors, "Airport". Haven't gotten a request in a while. I'm everso thilled!
and kudos AL for cutting off ELO before the overexposed "Mr Blue Sky"
and speaking of overexposed: heeeere's "Baker Street"

Never heard this before. Would have guessed it was ELO with a guest singer. Did Jeff Lynne have anything to do with this?
-
Very ELO-y track from The Motors.
-
Did not put Baker St. on my request list but it is always a welcome listen. VHM
-
BakerOStreet
hmmm.... did Jeff Lynne have anything to do with Gerry Rafferty? the look a little alike:

so of course the FB Fogheads (who've been a been sleepy thus far) all chime in to say how much they LURVE "Baker St". BOS is all but assured.
-
VHM Mr Welch. Is this before or after he played for the A's?
-
Ebony Eyes was a good request from some FBer. I saw that and nodded out loud to myself.
-
Even though it's a Katrina, I'll BOS Baker Street.
-
VHM Ebony Eyes. Sounds good.
-

of course one Foghead said "I haven't heard this since '78!!" She needs to listen to 103.7 The Band.
-
BOS4 The Only Ones "Another Girl, Another Planet"!!
followed by BOS5 Plastic Bertrand! I am the king of the divan!
-
BOS4 "Another Girl, Another Planet"!!
The Only Ones do this apparently. Never heard of 'em. Sounds kinda like Robyn Hitchcock.
-
BOS4 "Another Girl, Another Planet"!!
this is Sundaygal's request! "best guitar solo, ever," I think is what she said about it.. yes, I can see some votes for the guitar solo.
of course The Carpenters' Goodbye To Love guitar solo would also have to be considered.

What the hell is this punk French rap?

What the hell is this punk French rap?
you're kidding.
VHM Zevon. One fine fine set, this was.
-
"Letterman couldn't put her away!" Story of his life.

You mean I'm supposed to know what that was? I have no clue.
BOS for Excitable Boy in any case.
-
"Letterman couldn't put her away!" Story of his life.
Bwahahaha! Now that was *good* snark!
-
Battle of the Network T and A was bad then, but not as bad as the "celebrity" shows today.
-
BOS, "Excitable Boy".
I didn't know Plastic Bertrand either, until Mike posted. I mean, I've heard the song a million times, but the artist never made it into my memory banks. Probably didn't care enough...

much much airplay at the time, and it has showed up a couple times on 10@10 in the AL era (tho' Dave somehow never played it)
-
Not the set I anticipated. I know. I can always listen to the Band.

you won't get much disco from them. And that was the only drawback today -- AL loves her some New wave, often at the expense of the funky.

Love the Goodbye To Love solo, too (totally makes the song even though it seems slightly out of place). I probably listen to Another Girl, Another Planet at least once a week on my iPod. It's one of those kinda songs. Gets my BOS, natch. :)

if you hurry you can hear some Boston! Probably!

My wife and I, listening while we ate breakfast, both made the same comment.
My BOSes would have gone to the PG, the Motors, and the Only Ones. With a whole lotta VHMs following behind.
Btw, I hit a two-fer in the request derby today, sorta kinda: I suggested anything from Heaven Tonight, and the Gabriel song specifically. Missed the former, but tuned in just in time for On The Air.

The intro always fools me into thinking it's Boogie Nights!

I just posted this in your FB thread, but for everyone else -- the Motors other '78 single, "Forget About You", which TOTALLY rips off the GrassRoots' "Sooner or Later". An earworm if ever there was:

Yes, good to hear, so I pulled out that album, French Kiss, a fave from '78. Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie all play on it. Sometime on 10at10 it'd be nice to hear other cuts like "Hot Love Cold World," "Mystery Train," or his solo version of "Sentimental Lady." A couple years ago, when Mick Fleetwood was a guest on the KFOG Morning Show, I got to ask him on the air if he could provide updates on former F'Mac members (I've got it on tape). He said Bob Welch was living in Nashville, still somewhat active in music.

TANC: listening to classic Kasem right now -- it's a March '78 chart that includes "Ebony Eyes". And "Hot Love..." is a great forgotten track.

I have that 45 too! Produced by Jimmy Iovine; their last-ditch attempt at US commercial success. (it flopped)

I got to hear most of this on the car radio last week, all kinds of great bustouts, but I phoned in my vote for C'a Plane Pour Moi.
But how come it's taken the entire nation of France 30 years to come up with a better band than Plastic Bertrand? (I do loves me some Phoenix).
