technically, her prose implied there was a year we were in the Super Bowl, but didn't win!Let's go back to a year when we were in the Superbowl. It'll be one when we WON, too.
-
An idea for a future set would be an 'all-champions' set, where one song is played from each year a Bay Area team won a championship, along with a clip from a championship scene. 1989 would have two songs played.
-
and we start (as has become tradition) with one of the biggest Katrinas of the year in question: DelAmitri, "Roll to Me"
-
OK I dunno who's singing Japanese here.

I did see that somebody requested "I Know". Not that it's a bad song, but...
-
LMAO. Me neither, but it's worth a VHM. (And I *think* I know what she's saying, but...)
-
OK I dunno who's singing Japanese here.
"Twiggy vs. 007" or something. BOS for WTF-ness alone.
-
BOS1 Wilco's gotta Box Full Of Letters. Outstanding album, BTW.

Mmm hmm. If there's nothing else BOS-worthy, then I may have to upgrade my VHM to a BOS. :P

Would that be off of the "Golden Eye" soundtrack? Oh yeah, do I love the WTF selections!

proxies of shray, urth, and possibly gaz. I wasn't listening to a lot of KFOG in '95 outside of 10@10, so anything from their playlist is not gonna ring any bells with me.

Dignified VHM for Mr Dylan.

I couldn't find it on that, but I found this:

Yawn.

I knew she would do it, yeah, yeah...

Yikes, here's yer Dionne Farris. "I Know" it's a 'trina, 'trina.

We even got our morning O.J.

-
Joan Osborne, with one of her two tolerable songs. Guess that makes a VHM.
-
"St. Teresa" is a Katrina I never mind hearing.
-
We even got our morning O.J.
now if we can get Oran "Juice" Jones in an '86 set, I'll be happy.
Joan Osborne takes us back to snoozeville with "St Katrina".

Oh hell no! >:( (Although I must say, the AFKACKAP version is significantly less annoying)

She also had a song in late 2000 which I think was called "The Comfort Of Strangers" that was decent.

It's SLEEP I'm falling into, AL.
Where's the Super Bowl clips?
-
OMFG. BOS Charmless Man - Blur!!!

It certainly wakes up the set!

WOS Better Than Ezra, who aren't better than anyone.
Woah! I said "woah"! Is it "Good" or my request of "Rosealia"?
-
WOS Better Than Ezra, who aren't better than anyone.
Dude! listen to the lyrics... "It's good!"
(I like it, btw.)
-
ah, glory days indeed: BOS3 Niners, VHM Jerry Rice.
uber-BOS4 Rancid! damn, I haven't gotten this many requests played in a 2-week period in quite a while.

Is this Fishbone?
No way.

Is this Fishbone?
nevermind googled it

I didn't know who it was until I read Mike's post. I just know I can't stand that song. And I like everything Fishbone does. :)
-
Is this Fishbone?
Oakland's own Rancid. A few shades paler than Fishbone. You being the king of ska, this was the beginning of the ska revival.

is it "poison time bomb?" or "the boy's a time bomb?"

the latter. HUGE on Live 105 that year -- KFOG probably ignored it.
-
This Rancid track was from 1995? Wow, I guess some bands never change.

perhaps the second revival? the 80s brought The Specials, The Beat and such our way, then these guys came along later.
-
Given that the Live 105 playlist is comprising much of a 1995 10@10 in 2011, I guess that means in 2027, 10@10 will be playing their 2011 playlist. Let's see... that will be "Smells Like Teen Spirit", something from 311, and of course "Under The Bridge".

Ska was new to me in 1980 so I considered this the first revival ;)

oh, totes magotes, me too. But... you know, for the record and stuff.
So reggae is ska with lots of weed added, right? That's how I always hear it. Like, the same rhythmic structure paired with sort of sluggish synapse firing. :)

I dunno -- ska's a lot faster. Reggae on speed? or coke?

I can see that, but since ska came first, we add weed and get the reggae, mon.. The romanticized story goes the Caribbean-ers picked up early rock and roll, jazz and R&B from US (mainly Florida) radio stations, retooled it with island flavors and calypso and they came up w ska.
When the culture of Jah came along, the Rastafarians took the ska basics and slowed it waaaaay down. tee hee ... maybe they thought they were playing fast paced ska anyway! (like how when you're stoned and driving and you think you're doing 80 but your really going like 7 mph?)

Oops, totally misread you -- I'm a bit dyslexic today. Maybe I need some weed.

LMAO, so true. (And speaking of...guess what's playing as I type? :-\ Granted it's C-923 not Live, but same difference anymore :( )
-
A little late perhaps, but I think the segue from Newt Gingrich to "Charmless Man" is brilliant.
