AL noted that she was "swamped" yesterday; the '77 setlist still not posted and no clues for today either. We're overdue for some '90s, no?

I'll predict we'll be visiting 1998 today.

just heard a promo with a couple clues: Monica in the White House -- 94? 95?
ETA: Swellegant is right: 1998

ETA; Swelligant is right: 1998
I don't even *have* a 1998 wishlist. But Austin "Bob" did '98 this week:
Eagle-Eye Cherry -Save Tonight
Semisonic -Closing Time
New Radicals -You Get What You Give
Third Eye Blind -Jumper
Barenaked Ladies -One Week
Matchbox Twenty -Real World
Fastball -The Way
Goo Goo Dolls -Slide
Savage Garden -Truly Madly Deeply
and I would not be surprised to hear any of those, plus Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It", Marcy Playground, Alanis or some Sheryl 'Ho.
WTF pick: Celine Dion's Titanic HFH
-
we're not sick but we're not well... BOS for one I haven't heard in a while.
-
Early BOS to Harvey Danger. "Paranoia, paranoia, everybody's coming to get me" is a great singalong line.

Blech, that list is awful. You can probably hear all of them on Alice pretty much any hour. In 2011.
-
first "Bob" duplication: BNLs -- they got da mad hits!
-
Blech, that list is awful.
I initially misread that as "Bitch, that list is awful," and was like, WHOA :o
"One Week" was inevitable, I suppose. I still giggle at a lot of these lines.

I like the BNLs but this always struck me as a tad too-cute, bitch.
-
BOS2 Frasier.
WOS the worst version of "can't Get Enuf o' You baby" ever recorded. I'll have to request Colourfield's take sometime.
-
HM to Smash Mouth before they sucked.
-
Without comment, here are ten songs I made on a mix tape to a girl I was dating, primarily in 1998.
“Ray Of Light”, Madonna
“Stay (Wasting Time)”, Dave Matthews Band
“Closing Time”, Semisonic
“Deadweight”, Beck
“Raspberry Swirl”, Tori Amos
“Flagpole Sitta”, Harvey Danger
“Abracadabra”, Sugar Ray
“Acquiesce”, Oasis
“Joining You”, Alanis Morissette
“Rachel”, Buffalo Tom
-
I'll back up the Smash Mouth HM... it was a reasonable followup to "Walkin' On The Sun". Don't quite get the hate for them.
-
BOS3 Fastball -- truly one of the best of that year.
-
BOS2
"Delilah" "The Way" - loved this song; too bad Fastball ran out of ideas fast.
-

For me, the hate stems from their paint-by-numbers mindless covers that they pasted on soundtracks for years after hitting the big time.
And that "All-Star" song grated on me - a million listens'll do that.

Hee. a mash-up of "Delilah" and Mashmakan's "As Years Go By", to my ears.
-

they freely admitted they wrote that specifially to pitch it as a commercial jingle (Nike, Reebok, the highest bidder)
-
VHM Ellen.
-
In two years all these fab songs will qualify as "oldies." I'm going to go cry. HM Garbage, channeling Chrissie.

I never knew 15 years was the cutoff. ;) VHM -- not one KFOG was playing in '98.
-
ACKKK!!!! WOS to the swing revival.
-
WOS2 Brian Setzer and the silliest musical "fad" since the aborted skiffle revival of the early '70s
jeezus -- a swingin' twin-spin. Make it STOP!!
-
This reminds me of Swingers, not that I'm BOSing it or anything. Vince Vaughan, what happened to you?
-
New Radicals -You Get What You Give
Blech, that list is awful.
the only song I can say I like -- or recognize, for that matter -- on this list.

It's kind of arbitrary, but it's the def I've been using since I began listening to oldies radio regularly (3WS in 1985, when Shocking Blue's "Venus" was the most recent thing they'd play).
-
I think this is the year I didn't listen to the radio much. Gee, I wonder why...
-
Vince Vaughan, what happened to you?
A steak every day for the past 13 years, I'd wager.
-
Emphatic WOS2 to "Zoot Suit Riot." It's not even well sung.

bwahahaha! When you make a movie with Kevin James, and *you're* "the fat guy"... you're in trouble.
-
FWIW, The Sound is doing 86, and there's nothing exciting to report, except the Wanging of the Chung
10:22am The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby
10:17am In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel
10:13am Amanda by Boston
10:08am Dreams by Van Halen
10:03am Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung
10:00am Harlem Shuffle by Rolling Stones

I think it's a case where the whole is less than the sum of its parts... I do like "You Get What You Give" (although, I have to say that I like "Technicolor Lover" from the same album a lot more), but the 10 Bob songs in tandem kind of bore me.

And now, the comedy stylings Gaz and RGM!

at the risk of sounding like geoff: which one of you whippersnappers can ID this thing we''re hearing now?
-
This electronic jumble is NTM. I'll guess Chemical Brothers but I really have no idea.

Oh but wait, here's the PFurs' Pretty In Pink. Saves the day.
Isn't she?

I remain fond of "Mother We Just Can't Get Enough" from that album. I was living in SoCal when that album was out, and that song reminds me of the car rides to the parties where I had my few dabblings with Bolivian marching powder. A very direct association for me.

You forgot to throw in Prodigy in the mix... ;)
-
Yeesh: "Pretty Dumb for a White Record"
(bet it wins BOS)
-
WOS3 Offspring. This song makes me want to punch myself in the face.
-
What in God's name is this cacophony??
-
1998 was the year I started listening to 10@10. Not coincidentally it was the year I started to backfill much of my CD collection.
-
Ah, finally something I can BOS. The Donnas!

you guys SHOULD do something like that, although I would say think hard about committing to such a rigid literary 'voice' like a cranky pants Statler and Waldorf duo. it might corner you in some ways and then you'll be sort of apologizing when you are 'nice' -- then again, maybe that won't be a problem! ;)
-
I was fading in and out of consciousness when the radio alarm clock turned this set on, too bad nothing exciting enough to pull myself up came on.
WOS's to Harvey Danger, Brian Setzer Orchestra, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies. If I had to pick one, it would be the CPD, easily. I can understand the appeal of "Flagpole Sitta" and can respect the BSO even if I hate everything about swing. But "Zoot Suit Riot" is inexcusable and so are the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Stupid band name, stupid title, stupid lyrics, subpar music, annoying voice...etc. One of the worst songs of all time.
That Crystal Method song is NTM & in my half-asleep state of mind was thinking Prodigy. I will have to tune in @ 10 tonight.
That Offspring song is silly, but not too troublesome. We enjoyed it back in the day.
I must have fallen asleep again before the Donnas came on.
I'm mad that she didn't take requests because I wanted to request "Time Ago" by Black Lab, "To the Moon & Back" by Savage Garden, "Brick" by Ben Folds Five, & "Spark" by Tori Amos. Although she mentioned she went for upbeat, which the latter few def. aren't.

hahaha! you're in good company here on that one. But when i posted on AL's FB page that the swing revival was one of the silliest things ever, I got a few smack-downs. Fogheadz loves them some swing, apparently.

A fun way to do this might be as a comic strip with us as avatars with thought bubbles.
What do you think of "Tuppy and Saussy"?
