I guess my chronolgy's out of whack: I thought Sticky Fingers was 1971 and Exile was 1973.  But 72 makes more sense.  Thanks.

VHM: M*A*S*H.  Manic Street Preachers, one of my favorite contemporary British rock bands, recorded a cover of "Suicide Is Painless" a few years ago.  I'd never heard the words to the song before hearing it.

"Amie" in 1972?  Was this re-recorded/re-released in 1975, or have I lost my mind, or has Bob lost his?

BOS: Elton's cat named Hercules.  Nice to dip into a Deep Track here.  Anyone else hear traces of "John, I'm Only Dancing" here?

Seeing them at Winterland in 72 helps my memory cells

BOS Elton for the not-heard-often-enough "Hercules". Messin' with the muscle boys, indeed.

BOS2 to the Raspbs, unfettered joy at its finest.  A few months ago they announced some reunion plans, but I've heard nothing since.  Guess the news was met with resounding silence, which would sadden me.

Speaking of sad news, I wasn't going to post on this topic, but now that it's public knowledge, you all might as well know:

VILLAGE VOICERS SET TO STRIKE (GAWKER)
Apparently, the paper's management has a proposed a new contract which essentially rolls back benefits and compensates with a whopping wage increase of $15 per week.

See I only had the album, which I didn't acquire until the late 70's anyway, so I always thought this came out in '72.

Did I mention that one of my favorite cousins is named Amie?  She's 10 years my junior, but a real sweetheart.  Haven't seen her for years & I believe she now has kids the same ages as my own.

You won't get Gaz, he's part of the union...

Bummer, buddy. Hang in there.  Guess that puts their plan to re-name the "Village Voice Madison Square Garden" on hold, eh?

Shocker: Gaz gives WOS to "After Midnight."  Sorry, but to me it sounds like someone muttering to himself at the end of a bar.

< chuckle >  Actually she and all 4 of her sisters (she's the 6th of the 9 kids of my dad's 5th brother) went to Luther College (where Dave whatzisname made that live album), and all 5 got married to their college boyfriends within 2 years of graduating.  Good thing we don't do dowries in this country.

Super-B-O-S to "Summer Breeze," one of the most elegant productions my ears have ever heard.  The Isleys' version is even better.

Oh how right you are.  Always hope it'll show up in one of Dave's Summer sets. Their covers rule, generally.

Tomorrow: 1978.  More War of the Worlds?
