Title: 2 Dec 2010: It's..... 1994!
Post by: Big Fingers McGee on December 01, 2010, 06:21:04 PM
And already there are suggestions for Lisa Loeb's "Stay" (not that I have anything against her) and Bryan Adams' "Please Forgive Me".

For the first time ever, I have requested some Cracker. Radical347, I've given you the lead on Real McCoy, and to be fair to the Canucks, I've also listed Sass Jordan.

I've requested Can't Get Out Of Bed by The Charlatans because I really couldn't that year.

I was confused, as you attributed "Another Night" to Prince. And I asked for him doing "Most Beautiful Girl", plus Shonen Knife's fab "Top of the World" cover and Lucas with his lid off.

And may I say: Dave Matthews should be banned from any 10@10 apperarances as long as KFOG has him in 12-times-a-day rotation the rest of the week.

Good catch. I've corrected and amended.

Ditto both Crows (Sheryl and Counting) -- someone requested "Rain King" *and* "All I Wanna Do".

I'll add "Black" to that list, even if they spell crows differently. OTOH, it's perfectly ok to play something from "The Crow" soundtrack.

BTW, you COULD make "Softer, Softest" your Hole request. I bet AL would play it.

Radical347, I've given you the lead on Real McCoy

Seconded!  ;D

Also req'd Cause & Effect, Culture Beat, Ini Kamoze.  Was tempted to throw in "Stroke You Up" by Changing Faces too, but like hell she'd ever play that.

1994. This set has the potential to be very good...but also to be very bad.  I can imagine something like All I Wanna Do/Mr. Jones/What Would You Say/When I Come Around/Stay/Found Out About You/Please Forgive Me/Linger.  :-\

Oh, P.S.  If someone really wants Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm, I'd prefer Headline News.  She's played Weird Al, but this one's actually good.  Come to think of it, I'm going to edit that in right now :-D

I think the albums I played most in '94 were Parklife and Live Through This.  Rock Star is Courtney at her Courtney-est, rude words and all.

I very nearly predicted that "Buddy Holly" would be our TOTHK, given their presence in town.  oo-wee-oo BOS1.

WOS Sideshow Bob & his Crows.

Stream quality seems extra-poor today -- really lo-fi -- or is it just me?

BTW, this CC song doesn't bother me.  Minimally whiny.

VHM to Einstein on the Beach (For an Eggman).  If she had to do the CC, at least she's getting it out of the way at #2 and not with Mr. Jones, Round Here, Anna Begins, or Rain King.  Best from that era would have been "Omaha" but this is second.

Oh great, here's our Stay.  ::)

OK, I'll VHM LL's "Stay", it's still kinda sweet.

BOS2 Urge Overkill! One of the great covers of the '90s.  Followed of course by a Pulp Fiction clip.

BOS3 Elastica, but we heard this in the last '94 excursion, no?

BOS for Connection -- great pop song!

BTW, just noticed my noise reduction headphones were off.  That's why the stream sounded bad.  All good now!

I can't quite bring myself to WOS this STP, but it gets today's "most unnecessary" award.

Oh I'll happily WOS it.  ;)

and we've previously heard "Connection" in '95 sets. WTF?

I dig it.  but I might throw Lisa Loeb on the unnecessary pile, maybe the Crows, too.  Not b/c they're overplayed, but just b/c they are played, period.

Yeah, this one should be '95. (http://wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/elastica.htm)
I guess another one to throw into the "most unnecessary" pile.  Along with everything Tinka_Cat mentioned too.

Veruca Salt?  VHM -- I gets me '90s chicks confused sometimes. Veruca Juliana Hatfield Phair.

well, yeah, but it was pretty much the story of the year.

Can't say this set wasn't, er, loud. Not recognizing this current thrasher.  (ETA: Afghan Whigs)

not exactly a bustout-fest, esp considering the suggestions that were ignored.

Some Eurodance would have really brightened things up near the end.  Oh well, keeps fingers crossed for Real McCoy next time!

Oh btw, Elvis vs. JXL surfaces again, in a rare post 10@10 appearance right now for those still listening.

LOL - Here's the STP song again, this time an acoustic version, confirming my "most unnecessary" designation.

YES!!!  This album took a while to grow on me, btw (almost as long as it took them to record it).  Saw them on their last concert ever at the Fillmore in '95.  John Squire decided to go cycling in the Marin Headlands the following day, broke his collarbone, couldn't play Glastonbury and decided to quit the band.  Still waiting for a reunion...Ian Brown's solo stuff blows.
