Post by: RGMike on November 29, 2010, 08:30:08 PM
always a YAY for '68.

Some fine suggestions for a change, tho' someone here who shall remain nameless asked for "Time Has Come Today', which we just heard 3 weeks ago (the looong version)in the time-change set. (yes, I'm officially a curmudgeon)

I'll give an HM for Cream's "Politician", but I don't like this song.

ETA: the diamond-shaped candy (upper left) is the savoy truffle that inspired the song.

This is apparently legit, but If I didn't know better I'd swear it was a joke from How I Met Your Mother  -- a band Robin's dad once belonged to.

I'm digging this Johnny Nash-sounding (is it him?) pop-reggae more than the Buffalo Springfield hippies, but even that gets HMFRA. We like the rarities.

I like them much better now, than I did then, and it's still kinda obvious the record company said "get us a Mamas & Papas-sounding group with a fat chick!"

Status Quo -- from what I've read, they've been around for decades -- they might even still be together playing the oldies circuit --  but this was their biggest hit by far.  great song, Cracker Van Beethoven covered this nicely.
