stand by for Santana, I'm guessing.

BOS Chrissie & Co -- even minor Pretenders may get the prize today.

Early BOS to "Human on the Inside."  I'd forgotten this song.

BOS2 to Travis, "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?"  A decade-plus old already ... sigh.

Is this AL's first trip to '99?

Cute use by AL of the "case of the Mondays" clip ... and cute use of the Andrea True Connection by one-hitters Len.  HM.

2nd or 3rd.  I'd've loved a heads-up on this one, to request Cher's "Believe".

WOS this thing that samples Andrea True -- I've always hated it. From the Go sndtk, iirc.

VHM to the Pretenders, the only tolerable thing I've heard by them.  Had no idea it was from 1999 though.

OMG!!!  BOS to Len.  Before 10000000 rappers absolutely killed the sample.

I figured something like that. :'( Just never been able to get into them.  Esp. the one where she says she's going to use her thighs and sassy...wtf?

We now have:

Sinead Lohan
Widespread Panic
Blur

VHM's 2-4.
So far, Travis, S. Lohan, & Blur are re-runs.

actually it's

"Gonna use my style,
 Gonna use my side-step"

but it took me years to get that .

VHM Guster, another one it's hard to believe is 11 years old.

WOS to this Guster remake re-run.  As generic of a band as you get that's somehow become and remained AAA darlings.

And 'meh' to Macy Gray.  I used to hate this song so much, but I don't think I've heard it in like 8 years, so it gets a pass.  It does seem like a good song to play on 10 @ 10 though.

South Side = BOS2, but it's not from 1999.  2000 is pushing it.  2001 was its big year.

on this we can agree -- her voice annoys the crap outta me; never understood the love.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! uber-WOS Moby feat Ms. Stefani. One of the most annoying records KFOG has ever had in heavy rotation (and that's saying something)

A-ha.  Thanks for posting that! :)  It does seem to make more sense.  Still not in any rush to become a fan though. ;)

Me neither.  Everyone seemed to love it too, it wasn't just the record companies that pushed it to #1.
I got a kick out of her next single though, just because it was self-explanitory: "Why Didn't You Call Me?" :-D

I rather enjoyed it, except for Guster, but that one wasn't even that bad.

2 late 90s sets in the span of ~2 weeks.  Loving it!

Macy Gray BOS.... REALLY? C'mon!
I don't share Radical's hate of "Barrel Of A Gun"... if anything I think Guster is sadly underrated.
Yep, Southside is so NOT 1999.
The Pretenders tune is OK, but I really never need to hear it again.
Are Ziggy Marley and Michael Franti the same person? Have you ever seen them in the same room?
For about an hour I had a crush on "The other Sinead".
Len is an ok enough throwaway/guilty pleasure.
Travis had their moments, but this wasn't one of them.
I remember when the Widespread Panic tune was a current, which makes me feel really old.
And Blur is always acceptable.

I had to leave for work midset and am catching the replay.  Had I time I would have strongly defended Guster's song (which I'll always mistitle "4, 3, 2, 1"), a real period piece for me.

But wow, I really listened to Chrissie's lyric on the replay.  Was she dating a junkie at the time?  There's some (not-so-?) coded language in there, but I dunno if/what backstory may be.

The Travis tune sends me back to learning to drive in late '99 in Costa Mesa and the surrounding towns in Orange County.  It was soothing.
