another midterm election year...
based on the requests, I'm predicting a General Johnson twin-spin of sorts.
-
the James Gang's in town.
-
Excellent TOTHK from the James Gang -- "Funk 49"
-
BOS James Gang!
this one is #49 and I know there's a Funk 48... so there must have been 47 others before they got it right.

I'd hate to hear #s 1-47 ;)
Proxy of GazWOS, Canned Heat. Even I prefer the Wilbert Harrison version of this one, now now people.
-
Always a BOS for "BoC". Vote fo' me an' ah'll set ya FREE!
VHM the loooong version of "American Woman" and her war machines/ghetto scenes.
-
Sort of an election theme today? Ball of Confusion and American Woman>womens' rights clip certainly seem to fit.
BOS Melanie, Candles in the Rain.
-
women will be doing their own thing in their own way -- some will be laying down candles in the rain! er... wait, what?
BOS2 Melanie, tho' methinks we heard this fairly recently.
ETA: yup, we got this and the Canned Heat tune in August.
-
proxy of shray for S&G, those cunning linguists.
BOS3 Python election coverage!
BOS4 Macca -- that WOULD be something!
VHM Badfinger -- did I hear you say that there must be a catch?
-
uber-BOS5 Bowie, "The Man Who Sold the World" -- a bustout?
-

BOS Melanie, Candles in the Rain.
That's my take on it. 1970 was also a midterm election.
Tomorrow: Giants victory set?
-
BOS6 Traffic, "Freedom Rider".

BOS6 Traffic, "Freedom Rider".
I'll second that.

Tomorrow: Giants victory set?
I'm betting on it. It would end just in time for the parade!

This was the first time I've heard the original "Lay Down (Candles in the Wind)," but I'm familiary with it because Hits 106 played a remake by Meredith Brooks, of all people. I don't think her version went anywhere on any chart.

The Meredith Brooks/Queen Latifah version came out in late 1999, and also received a couple of plays on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, Hot AC version. It also spent four weeks at #1 on somebody's personal chart, but nationally I don't believe it charted anywhere.
EDIT: None of the singles from "Deconstruction" charted, but the album did manage to peak at #12.
