Title: 1 Oct 2010: it's... 1980
Post by: RGMike on September 30, 2010, 05:59:02 PM
AL is asking for "fun" songs -- somehow I think the guy who requested Bruce's "Point Blank" is unclear on the concept.

FWIW, I asked for "The Breaks" and a number of folks seconded me. Also Jermaine J's "Let's Get Serious" and Lou Reed "Power of Positive Drinking".

I'm not getting the Vapors from this set so far.  Masturbating to an X-ray isn't my idea of "fun."

in classic AL fashion, we start with 2 'trinas in a row.  I could go without "Turning japanese" for a couple of years.

OMFG!! another from my wishlist that I didn't even ask for!  BOS3 "Antmusic", another bustout, amazingly.

However, it's being played in the wrong year, methinks.

WOS to the umpteenth playing of "Mag 7", which really kinda belongs in '81 anyway. (had it been that year I'd've asked for "Hitsville UK")

What do we have for entertainment?  Plenty, even if it is in the wrong year.

to be fair, both this and "Antmusic" were December '80 releases, but most Americans think of them as '81 radio hits.

BOS to Adam Ant!!!

VHM to the Clash, simply for being one of their very few songs I can actually tolerate. (The others being 'This is Radio Clash' & 'Lost in the Supermarket.' Would have preferred the latter)

I can't believe you got your request for "Power of Positive Drinking."  AL hearts RGMike!  And we're all the more fortunate for it.

What does this mean: When I exit, I'll go out gracefully, shot in my hand
(Oh, never mind.  He means a shot of whiskey in his hand.  Thought this might be some heroin reference, but that would be a different song.)

Oh and Mirror in the Bathroom is a happy fun song?  No. (Though I love it)

when she said she wanted "fun" I figured I had a shot. But I'm still amazed at 3 wish-listers in one set.
