I'm afraid to look. ;)
I've got WAY too many fave covers to narrow down to a handful. I'll just wait to be surprised tomorrow
-
she used Devo's 'Satisfaction' as her video clip. That's what I would have chosen first, but I don't care what she picks. I trust her. After all, she's a professional.

and sure enuf, Devo leads off. AL likes covers that reinvent the orig, she says. And that's a *good* thing, I says.

And here we go! I'm excited about this with this start.

Go Flying Lizards!
-
VHM
Yoko Flying Lizards.

Hey AL: since we're getting reinvented versions, mostly, "Copy cats" is the least-accurate desciption imaginable, actually. I suspect a suit came up with that.
-
Who's doing Victoria? NTM, but I'd say this version is pretty similar to the Kinks version.
I wonder if we'll hear any Pat Boone today. That does take us pretty far into hit from hell territory, but I'd still enjoy "Enter Sandman". ;)
-
Id like to hear Aztec Camera's Jump
-
dunno who did "Victoria". VHM Annie Lennox's "Train in vain", tho' I'd've preferred Dwight Yoakam's.
-
Id like to hear Aztec Camera's Jump
ditto -- and it certainly fits the "reinvented" meme.
-
Turns out that was The Fall doing The Kinks.
VHM JJ covering the Beatles, but it's a KFOG staple and I'm still waiting for something to knock my socks off.

The funny thing to me is I feel like this version is very much what the Beatles had in mind when they did the song. Kind of a boozy piano bar lament.

woo hoo! BOS Siouxie!

woo hoo! BOS Siouxie!
How are yer socks doing now, Mike?
-
BOS Dear Prudence - Siouxsie!

woo hoo! BOS Siouxie!
How are yer socks doing now, Mike?
getting the fresh air they so desperately need!
-
I can think of several versions of "Little Wing" I'd've preferred to Mr Sumner's.

I'm so glad.
WOS for the Easy Listening version of Little Wing. Derek and the Dominoes woulda been way better. Zero does a great version too.

Agreed. It does reinvent the original, but in this case it's not a good thing.

BOS2 "Slaughter on 10th Ave"

BOS2 "Slaughter on 10th Ave"
Need more info! Is this a Jeff Beck song? Who's doing it now?

It's a '50s soundtrack theme from the film of the same name (I wanna say Dmitri Tiomkin?) This is Mick Ronson, methinks.
-
proxy of GazWOS the Cowboy Junkies, sounding like, well, junkies on their snoozy "Sweet Jane"

My feelings exactly. This version sucks all the life out of the fabulous original. And of course, by the "original", I don't mean the original version. I mean the "Rock and Roll Animal" version.
-
I'm all over this extremely weird version of Heartbreak Hotel. Who izzis?
Apparently it's John Cale.

well, half right: it was Ronson. But the tune is part of a ballet composed by Richard Rodgers -- no relation to the movie, apparently

send in the clone!
uber-BOS3 Joey Ramone's "What a Wonderful Set-Closer" One I want played at my funeral.

Don't bother, he's here.

TANC-of-the-month: I went to FB to post the above comment on AL's wall, and someone had already said the exact. same. thing. Kinda creepy, actually.
and another TANC -- switched over to 'LNG and got the 4 Tops fab cover of "If I Were a Carpenter".

First half BOS to Devo (and memories of the video), with a VVHM to the Beatles cover twin spin. I was on my way to an appointment, and had to leave the vehicle during Dear Prudence. I may try to catch the second half tonight, don't know that I've heard the Joey Ramone cover (probably have, but I don't remember it).

WOS from me. Out of the box is fine, out of the groove is not. Babybabybabybabybaby don't insult my intelligence.

BOS to the Beatles twin-spin. And I don't mind the Junkies' "Jane" all that much - in small doses.
