Title: RIP Kenny Edwards, guitarist and songwriter
Post by: urth on August 19, 2010, 11:51:06 PM
The original member of the Stone Poneys and Bryndle was 54 64. He collapsed on tour with Karla Bonoff in Denver earlier this month.

(Aside: Always wondered why they spelled it "poneys" rather than "ponies.")

ETA: Corrected his age at time of death.

From Wiki: "Their misspelled name came from Delta Blues singer Charlie Patton's 1929 song "The Stone Pony Blues" (also known as "Pony Blues")" See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Poneys

Kenny was 64 when he died, not 54, otherwise it'd be really impressive that an 11 yr-old was in a hit group with some college age kids (hey, like in The Partridge Family).  Obit:

I always dug this album, but only had it on reel-to-reel.  Finally picked up a vinyl copy some years ago at Village Music.  I've probably written about this before, and one of you has probably told me how to get the CD.
