I spoke briefly to Susan Cowsill and one of her brothers when they played Alameda County Fair a couple years ago along with some other late 60s/early 70s acts. They did this song, Hair, Indian Lake, more!

in the original hit version of the song, he says "dewlap bag", apparently he either mis-read the lyric sheet or whatever. I'll see if it's on YT. And of course at the end there's an extended (and rather disturbing) sound effect of B&C being gunned down, which this version bypassed .

Yeah, it was high time. And after hearing this new term on "Mad Men", I had to incorporate it somehow, somewhere.

when AL said "dad's record collection" I had hopes of hearing my "Somethin' Stupid" request, but no.
I coincidentally had a little re-aquaintance with my vinyl collection today. We've had some repair work due to water damage done in our dining room, and I've had to take all my vinyl out of the record case (about 600 records) and then today I had to put them all back in. My eyes passed over albums I hadn't seen in a jillion years!
Also, I played "Higher and Higher" to one of my classes today on their entrance into the classroom. Today was the first day of students at the new school.
I really feel Richie Havens version is the most soulful version I've heard of SBB. Even the original just sounds so old-timey pizza parlory. Never liked EC's version, and I'm not a Clapton basher either. But yes, I'd have liked to have heard the closing tune too!

Happened to just hear Sinatra & Crosby doing "Well Did You Evah?", which is where the word originated -- thank Cole Porter.
"Christ on a Cracker!"
