summer summer summer, trina trina trina. sorry, "Magic" is no longer magic for me.

I never noticed how much the Cars resemble Starship on this song ("Magic"). That wouldn't be a good thing.

I still have the 45 -- with one of her great non-LP B-sides (either "When I Was Young" or Prince's "Let's Pretend We're married", I forget which)

I loved that duet she did with Bryan Adams...the title escapes me...

BOS2 Infatuation - haven't heard this in aaaages.

BOS2 from me too -- 'fatuate me! Rod's radio-friendly '80s singles are a joy, for the most part.

It shares a bit with Sussudio, methinks.
ETA: I thought this sounded pretty Beckoid. He does appear to play on this album.

Yep, and they toured together right up until the night before Rod played in Sacramento. Which was the show I went to. I believe Earl Slick stepped in and finished the tour. Not quite the same thing.

It felt like it was sent through the Miami Vice filter. BOS anyway. Rod rocks.

proxy of shray, Gen'l Pub, "Tenderness" -- but it was a hit in '85.
-
BOS for
the English Beat General Public -- one we don't hear too often.

LOL! been catching some of the Vice reruns on Centric (it's on right before Soul Train!) and they're still rather impressive, '80s hair notwithstanding.

BOS for the DeLorean trial coverage. I was in the Stanford Band at this time, and we did a halftime show that featured a car snorting up a line of cocaine. Damn we were funny.

VHM VH, "Hot For Teacher"

BOS for Repo Man. Such a great movie. 1984 has gotta be my favorite year for movies with Buckaroo Banzai, Spinal Tap and Repo Man all showing up.

BOS for Van Halen showing how hard rock is done, with lots of tongue (in cheek).
-
Goin' out in a hair-metal mood. First Dee Snider, now Diamond Dave. And "hair metal" is kind of ironic, since neither of them has much anymore.
"I brought my PEN-CILLLLL!!!!"

Do you think VH counts as "hair metal"? I'd let them out of that unfortunate classification. I think they're in a different league than, say, Whitesnake or Warrant.

used to work with a Russian sys admin who was still learning English even as he programmed our site like nobody's business. If the volume on something was up too high, he would say "That music is too loudy."

Third, actually. But I'm not really complaining either.

This is the song that John Rocker would have played when he came in to pitch for the Braves. After his outburst, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister emphatically insisted it not be played for Rocker.
