I do too, tho' it's a tad overexposed. As is "Saturday in the Park with an Italian Guy"... or 2.

Watergate:
Here on KSAN, Scoop Nisker was all over this when it happened, but it seemed like the main media ignored the story until after the election.  When did those of you in different areas hear about it?

I was certainly aware of it that year, tho' it didn't come to a boil (televised hearings etc) until the following summer.

BOS2 Nilsson's "Spaceman", tho' I had requested "Jump into the Fire" -- what few requests got made were, I guess, too late.

NTM.  Peculiar song, but I don't like "Jump into the Fire", so I'm glad to hear this one.

At seven years old, I had no clue what it was all about. I remember the hearings, but it meant nothing to me at the time.

BOS for Todd.  I'd've BOS'd Paul Simon, but I just heard that last night on the Fresno oldies station while driving back from 3 days camping in King's Canyon.

I'm sure I must have been aware of it at the time because my parents certainly disliked Nixon immensely.  What I remember most clearly was having a mock election in my 5th grade class that November before the real election, and only my friend Tim & I were for McGovern (his dad was the principal of the Lutheran church school, and my dad was on the staff).  As the year wore on we enjoyed feeling righteous as Nixon's presidency deteriorated further and furter,

BOS5 Roxy!  This set has (as usual) overcome early katrinitis and pushed into the stratosphere. I should know by now.

on Fresh Air (with Terri Gross) last week, they ran a segment from 2004 with Jimmy Webb.  I think he said he played piano on Jump Into The Fire.

Holee Crap!  another BOS to Roxy Music!

"We are flying down to Rio" --  that's quite some IAMBIC PENTAMETER trochee Bryan has there.

(Edit:  oops, I was mistaken. It's not iambic pentameter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iambic_pentameter)!  but rather trochaic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trochee) (penta)meter, like you see here:

Peter, Peter pumpkin-eater,
Had a wife and couldn't keep her.

my lord, WTH was I thinking?)

I had to step away during Lou, so I missed this one and Googled for it:

Whoa.  NTM too, but then, I was like, 2 in 1972.

The Lou song was NTM as well, but really great.  Despite his Edgar Poe-inspired performance that  Bumbershoot in 2002 that we quickly bailed on, I really do like Lou.  I mean, check him out in Sun City:

Not sure about the  Wood Man.  Michael Jackson might count .. but it was never proven in court just how BAD he was.

Thanks for reminding me about "Sun City" -- one of the great political singles of all time and one that actually made the Top 40.  Must put this on the AL request list.

I remember hearing about it some time that summer, definitely prior to the conventions. Can't recall what media was covering it.
