a mixed bag on the suggestion front (Loverboy? really? And yes, someone really asked for "Tainted Love", which we got last week on Chartbusters) but I heartily endorse lufaphs' request for Ray Parker's "The Other Woman".

after I posted the above, AL's suggestion thread turned into quite a lovefest with some great ideas posted later in the evening. She seemed to like both the Ray Parker and my "Wordy Rappinghood" request, as well as a suggestion for Grandmaster Flash's "The Message" (which I'd've suggested too if I'd thought of it). Looking forward to 10am!

Moi aussi! '82 was such a fabulous year in music. Great FB suggestions everybody (but, after playing the looooong version of Tainted Love last week, I'm good for another 5 years.)

indeed, and AL must really roll her eyes ::) at all these supposed regular listeners to 10@10 who don't remember what songs were played last week or last month.

It probably just seems that way, but I swear "Don't You Want Me" must have achieved Katrina status by this point. Of course, it's been requested.

amazingly, per the shraytabase, it's nowhere near the katrina that "Keep Feeling Fascination" is -- 5 plays for DYWM vs. 11 for KFF. But this reminds me to put their fab "The Lebanon" on my list for '84 requests. (Dave played it exactly once a few years back)

Huey's takin' what they're givin' 'cause he's workin' for a livin'. $100 condo? in Marin??

The silverlight player on the KFrOG page works. But the old stream address connects immediately, but doesn't play. I'll see if I'm using the same link as on our page.
Just in time for the Jam! Yah!
This is my Winamp link that doesn't work today: mms://live.cumulusstreaming.com/KFOG-FM

always a BOS for "Town Called Malice", frequent-flyer tho' it is. Anyone remember their song "Absolute Beginners" (not to be confused with the Bowie tune) from the same LP?

Fab requests, y'all. Now if we can just hear 'em!

and another all-too-frequent flier, "Sooner or Later". proxy of shray but I coulda done without this, given the scads of fab requests that were made.

BOS Men At Work "Be Good Johnny". Love this one.
-
Who was that tough milk-drinker? Bon Jovi?
BOS for Be Good Johnny and those working dudes.
-
Was that Matt Dillon? I've got some milk for him, heh heh.
Yikes, Men at Work --this one's Alicat's fault ;) At least it's "Be Good Johnny" and not one of the big hits.
-
WOS the band in the red leather pants.
I count three county/state fair acts so far:
-Chewy Lewis
-Blubber Boy
-English Beat (aka Dave Wakeling's touring band)

OK there Mike.
I really enjoyed Colin Hay's bit when I saw Ringo and the All-Starr band last summer. He's a talented and personable guy.
Wan't Matt Dillon an infant in 1982? Or pretty small, anyway?
ETA: I see he was born 3 days before me. So...not quite an infant.
-
And here's SG's Humans.

I'm hoping The Jam will reform and tour again someday...
-

That's why he was drinking milk. Actually Flamingo Kid was '83 or '84. But he'd been in films since 1980 at least.
-
Tommy Tutone? I don't remember seeing this on the request cavalcade.

yes, I'm sure he played Overkill. Such a great song.

Hmm...the set isn't bad (except for Loverboy...anybody going to see them at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk? :o) But I'm a bit disappointed with all these Katrinas considering the scads of good requests. VHM to the English Beat so far, though.
EDIT: Spoke too soon! This one's my request, The Space Between! BOS :)
-
Big BOS for Roxy Music. Such an awesome album.
-
Anything from Roxy gets a BOS.
I was going to request something from Avalon, but I knew KNEW! AL would feel the vibes with Facebook
-
proxy of cairo for that sexy voice.

too late, they worked last weekend.
(They don't actually work EVERY weekend you know!)
ETA: or FOR every weekend, I should have said.... or rather, they don't work all week just ... ah, forget it.

7/23- Wonder why Peterik is billing Ides of March instead of the more well-known Survivor?
-
Woo Hooo! A bustout for Fagen's title track.
amazingly, it's not. But Dave only played it once... in 2003.
wherethehell is Mt. Balzonie?
-
BOS2 also.

I would love to hear "The Lebanon", by far my favorite song of theirs.
Triva question for DYWMB: It was the first #1 hit in many years to do...what? (musically speaking)

i just misheard his lyric "If you want your honey" as "If you wash your heiney"

feature a male/female duet-as-conversation?

I had the same thought -- someone else owns the name?
well, it's "Genius of Love", not "Wordy Rappinghood". bohannonbohannonbohannonbohannon!

well it looks like your "Wordy" request only inspired her to play "Genius of Love", but only a slight disappoinment & a solid BOS#3.
ETA: "The Message" came up on my Zune (which is pretty much permanently on Random) & I was thinking of suggesting it myself, but wondered if the two different lines with 'fag' in them would preclude her playing it. (actually the first one is 'faghag', but still...)
-
BOS Nightfly - runner up Genius of Love
-
Ugh. Wrong TTC song...I do not like this one. WOS.
but they all sound alike anyway!
I saw them at the Fillmore in 89... Chris Frantz got irritating on this one with the "ips zee mommazitta" part

Don't know, but the next #1 after DYWMB was Jim Peterik's Survivor with "Eye of the Tiger"
-

nope. further hint, it's in the instrumentation.

Even though this set was a bit more mellow than I would have liked for 1982, I'll give her that it had a nice flow.

Hmmm...didn't have any real instruments? Only synths?

I'll buy that. including synth drums..? I think Love Will Keep Us Together was all synths, too. Didn't that chart as #1? (What about Gary Wright? did he ever get to number one?)

We just heard ad for Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk featuring Jim Peterik's Eyes-of-(the Tiger)-March ;)
-
So was it Matt Dillon doing the milk thing? I didn't catch it.
-
So was it Matt Dillon doing the milk thing? I didn't catch it.
yes, it was inserted right before Men at Work's Be Good, Johnny.
Here's a transcript (I couldn't find a YouTube vid of what I assume was a TV commercial):
"yeah you know, some guys my age.. man.. they forget about drinking milk .. I don't know why. Maybe they forget about how good milk is...? Milk's great. So don't you forget: I'm drinking milk for good."
