Wow -- with 2 theme sets bookending the week, and '73 today, I was sure we'd get '90s tomo'w. But I'm pleased to no end.
-
I will attempt to tune in. I posted on FB, was Arlo coming into Los Angeleeze in 68 or 69. Totally dig that, listening to a live version now, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBis2GcNb1o (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBis2GcNb1o)

I will attempt to tune in.
Me too!
Hey, is anyone else interested in catching the BoDeans in SJ tonight for free? I can get a hall pass from my wife (kids are at her folks' for a couple days) as long as I can make it look like someone invited me.

Wish I could but can't. I might need someone to join me at Neil Young on July 11. I have the tix, Bob slated to go BUT we might be in Tahoe and he won't drive down and back just for the show. I will.

Probably; it's NTM as far as I can remember.
Is it blasphemy that I prefer both Elton's and the New Seekers' "Pinball Wizard" to the Who's?

Totally! Some years ago Dave played a 'make up' set one song each from the first 10 letters of the alphabet that didn't make it during the then on-going A-Z. He solicited suggestions during the Morning Show, but the best anyone could come up with* for 'G' was the second half of Santana's "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen", so that is what he actually played.
*I couldn't get through on the phone, to my utter dismay.

no, but EJ's wrist is probably even more supple than mine, ifyaknowwhutahmean.
Elton's remake is awesome. I think I prefer it too, but I was a kid into EJ's brand of poppy music back in the 70's, not "cool" enough to like the Who.. yet.
BOS to Jethro Tull! Ian Anderson actually come sup with lyrics that make some sense Who would've guessed??
Some good guitars in this set, even Justin Hayward's take in that Moodies cut. HM to the six string axe-iness of it all.
-
Arlo a bustout too?
PBS aired an American Master's on Woody Guthrie last night. I love PBS: That network kills fascists.
-
Lovely, Arlo into Dylan
lay lady lay
-
Dylan had some big brass balls to release something this awful. ;)
-
Arlo a bustout too?
not only a bustout song-wise, Arlo only has ONE appearance in the shraytabase, for "City of N.O."
-
Dylan seems to have the same throat-frog that Ian Anderson has.
-
Dylan had some big brass balls to release something this awful. ;)
OK, now *THAT* was blasphemy ;)
check out the Isleys sexy version.
-
Dylan had some big brass balls to release something this awful. ;)

-
VHM Re-Re's "Weight" problem, despite its production problems.

OMFG! uber-BOS5 JB! "Open Up Da DOOR! Do you HEAR me??"

Best of Week! I'll get it myself! (Echoed years later by Re-Re in her "Sisters" duet with Annie Lennox.)

UBER BOS Thanks AL!
ARLO on his way into Los Angeleeze!
This song was on auto-repeat in the jukebox of my mind a couple of days ago--no idea why, as I hadn't heard it in a good while. Guess we were all on the same wavelength. :)
That said, I missed the set while tending to business, as per usual. Will try for the replay tonite, but my success rate there is pretty piss-poah these days too.
-
Listened to the set while driving to a meeting, excellent that AL lets listeners program many of the songs; glad we request quality songs that aren't often heard on radio! Nice requests Ali (Arlo) and Mike ('retha)!

It really has turned out to be quite amazing, this FB-request thing. Think I've gotten more requests played by AL in the past month than Dave played in 18 years, give or take a Soul Patrol. And she does try to strike a balance between the Fogheads who ask for oft-played stuff and, um the rest of us geekier types.

Whaddaya know--I made it! Very VERY great set, as most of them are lately. Hadn't hear Gypsy in a number of years, nor the Aretha or JB, too.
