Del Amitri gettin' out of the way early.
At least we only hit '94 a few times a year.
Betting $10 that Weezer wins BOS. (They're not getting my vote, though.)
-
Just discovered something interesting about this song (the Del Amitri) because I only had one earphone in: Like the old Beatles records, all the instrumental tracks are on the left channel, and the vocals and one acoustic guitar track are on the right.
Thanks for starting the thread Mark--I missed the intro entirely, had no idea what 90s year we were in.
-
BOS Weezer -- it started just as I hit send on my previous post!
-
"Buddy Holly"
"Streets of Philadelphia"
"Loser"
other predictions?
Already nailed one!
I'd say something from Counting Crows -- was "Round Here" '93 or '94?
Super Hit SIXSIXSIX just might be Bryan Adams / Rod Stewart / Sting, "All for Love." But I hope I'm wrong.
-
HM Weezer.

I've still never seen the video for this, but want to.
Whatsamatta-whatsamatta-whatsamatta-U?

Dave, you cut off the last note of "Buddy Holly"!

Wassamatta wassamatta wassamatta JINX!

BOS Dreams
-
Cransnoozies. Lovely back then but it's a song that never went away.
-
Honorable Zeitgeist for "Dreams".
-
ROTFL!!!
"and what's the first thing they said to you when you opened the door?"
"I know I got a bad reputation."
-
wasn't the Simpson trial in '95? what was that Kato clip?
-
"Ayn Rand, thank you ma'am": WOS to Collective Soul.
-

yup - the decision, anyway
the murder was 94
dang - keep forgetting to turn off the "disable BBCode"

WOS, the Corrective Soles, the "yah" song. Didn't like it much then, still don't. Although Jeff Tweedy made a small joke about it (or at least the "yah" part) at the Wilco show last weekend, so I guess I'm not the only one.
Has Dave ever played Live in a 94 set? They were pretty huge that year, but don't think they've done much at all since then.

Creed stole their act.

Live would be preferable, but for some reason CS is a KFOG favorite, they are on the morning show with regularity & of course they did Spring Break this year. I saw it, an okay show that got better at the end.

They've released, I think, three more albums since Throwing Copper dominated 1994, musically solid but increasingly fraught with pretentiously religious iconography. Ed Kowalczyk got too big for his britches.
-
HM to "Saved By the Bell". Screech rules!
-
yikes, "Saved By The Bell". Betcha Dave just looooooves Mario Lopez...
-
what was that Kato clip?
That was an excuse to make the segue I noted at the bottom of page 1.
I think Dave has definitely been paying more attention to his segues lately.
-
WOS Dawn Penn. Another inexplicable Morey fave.
-
I don't remember this song from '94....

then he shoulda saved it for a '95 set
-
I'm pretty sure we heard this reggae jam last time we visited '94: I'd never heard it then, and I don't remember who it is now.
A quick glance at Whitburn suggests that Janet Jackson's "You Want This" or Lisa Loeb's "Stay" would be more than welcome. In fact, I'll bet on the latter as Tune #10.
-
VHM Martin Landau.
VHM2 Dionne Ferris. nice seg from Limbaugh. "I know what'cha doin' -- and I don't think it's fair"
-
BOS Dionne Ferris - "I Know" (& I'm pretty sure I can proxy the Princess on this one, too)
-
Another nice segue:
Rush Limbaugh dumping on liberals, into "I Know What You're Doing."

Popping pills
-
VHM Beck (& Mike is 2 fer 3 now)
Get crazy with the Cheez Whiz!
-
Show of hands: How many of you assumed that Beck was a one-hit wonder flash-in-the-pan when this came out?
(raises hand)
P.S. Technically he still is a one-hit wonder, but he's charted several more Hot 100 hits ...

Rush JINXbaugh!

Love to hear Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice, but methinks that's about as likely as Sir Mix-a-lot. The Gourds' cover of that tune was pretty great too.

Do OHW FITPs usually get fawned over by critics the way he does?

You got my Cheez Whiz, boy? The thing about Loser...KFrOG didn't actually play in in '94 did they? I think you had to listen to KITS or KOME (think they were doing new music then).
Hi, fans. I got a new job at Stellartech Research. Gotta stay busy though, so not too much posting in the near future.
-
Snoozer #2: CTDs. M-m-m-m--zzzzzzzzzzzzz.............
-
Congrats, Davefish!
-
BOS #2 "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm"
(I just love typing that)

Guilty. And while I like some of his stuff, I still don't get why folks have anointed him as the latest Jesus of Cool. I know lots of people who think he's godhead--totally escapes me.

Dave should play this right after some Christian conservative saying somthing stupid. That'd be a good segue.

You are correct, sir. They didn't play Weezer either. It was a great time to be listening to Live 105...
Congrats!

Hey, congrats on the new gig! You weren't out terribly long--just sort of an extended vacation, eh? Hope you dig it!
OMG! Wilco's first-ever 10@10 appearance! Except this record didn't come out til 95. And I don't think this dropped early as a single.

that's why early-'90s sets suck -- Dave can't tell the diff between '94 & '95!
-
Congrats, Davefish!
Double Congrats! Where is you commuting to now?
-
a TEN on the "excellencio meter"? Dave, you jest.
if "Loser" is "a great record", howcum you couldn't convince KFOG to play it back then, Dave?
-

Thanks, amigos. I was only off for about 5 weeks, and I spent most of it looking for a job and planning my real vacation that starts next week (Europe, doncha know!). Wish I'd taken more time off, but at least I can pump my severance pay into the kids' college fund, which doesn't technically exist yet.
-
I woulda voted Crash Test Dummies or Beck. Hard score in 94.

Didn't we hear it before? We at least heard it on A-Z in the past (but not this year with the 'improved' truncated version).

I'm in Sunnyvale, just off Mathilda, well within explosion distance from the Blue Cube. Ground zero, baby!

Wouldn't bet the house on it, but I don't think so, at least not in a 10@10. A-Z is more likely. I can't recall if KFOG picked it up briefly in 95 when A.M. really was out or not. I think they did play Casino Queen, and picked up a couple of tunes from Being There a year later.

Listening on headphones in my motel room, and Dionne Ferris sounds pretty good to this old fart. Interesting segue texturally as far as the slide guitar in "I Know" to "Loser"

Del Amitri - Roll to Me
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Cranberries - Dreams

Collective Soul - Shine
Dawn Penn - You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)
Dionne Ferris - I Know

BONUS TRACK: Grant Lee Buffalo - Mockingbirds

BONUS TRACK: Grant Lee Buffalo - Mockingbirds
DAMMIT!!!!! How often does THAT gem get played?
I miss the GLB. Grant Lee's solo albums have been way too uninspired. He needs his band back.

I guess I need to start sticking around for the Bonus Track, lately they've been better than the set -- sometimes bustouts, even. Like "Man in a Uniform" recently, which Dave has never played, I don't think, but Annalisa did.
