My money's on something '90s.

Van the Man "Real Real Gone" to start, which leaves me clueless, since all his late '80s-thru-'00s stuff blurs together in my brain.

Ditto.

Solomon Burke says, "If you need me...to tell you Enlightenment came out in 1990, and this was the first track."

Twice as hard... as it was the first time...

And then she pulled out my Jim Beam, and to her surprise, it was every bit (twice) as hard as my Canadian Club.

INXS makes me wish this year would disappear.
-
We must be in 1990, right?
-
HM to "Disappear," but this set needs an energy boost.

BOS the re-imagining of "He's gonna step on You Again"
-
OK, I'll give BOS to Happy Mondays' reworking of "He's Gonna Step on You Again," retitled "Step On," that pretty much epitomizes the Madchester sound.

Very nearly jinxed your re- word.

God this piano totally reminds me of George Michael's
Faith ... what song am I thinking of? Oh right, Freedom 90. Thank you Google.
-
Put the message in the box, send the box to Michigan, c/o Dave Morey.
-
I don't have any of their albums, but I seem to really enjoy everything I've heard by World Party.

This is the fourth time they've come up in some context for me this week. Weird. And yeah, all good stuff.
-
Oh wow, BOS2 for the very unexpected "Advice for the Young at Heart," TFF's follow-up single to "Sowing the Seeds." Barely charted, and I haven't heard it since then apart from in my own collection. I thought I was the only one who remembered it. Thanks, AL!

BOS2 from me 2 -- sounds lovely among these rather boring Moreytrinas.
-
BOS to a deep TFF cut that is sounding distinctly Style Council-ish to me this morning.

Oh right. But I'm not even trying to guess the year. Just remember what George Michael song I was thinking of...
-
VHM DM.

YES! I was thinking that too. Very nice production, but Paul Weller has a better voice.
-
I was going to say "This song is Very ... Unnecessary" but in the overall set picture, it's not bad.
-
BOS3 the Sinatra/Sinead SNL bit. VHM the real Sinead.
-
Damn, 20 years later, Sinead still chokes me up with "Nothing Compares 2 U." BOS3.
-
Whew - I thought it was just me. Love this Sinead track.
-
Tell me the guitar riff in this isn't the same as the chorus of Lionel Richie's "Hello."
-
sorry, this song bores me
-

Dunno, but I'm pretty sure the strings are. ;-P
-
Oh wait, I hear it. Yeah.

Ha!
And we can hope for RIP SUVs, right?
-
Tick Tock indeed -- isn't this set over yet? This song reminds me of the (superior) "Talk it Over" by Grayson Hugh from '89
-
RIP SRV
and RIP Law & Order SVU, while we're at it.
and RIH the SUV, while we're at it.
Er, something like that. I don't recognize this "Tick-Tock, People" song.
