Gaz, lufaphs has requested "Cuddly Toy". Me, I went for "Walk the Dinosaur", "Bust a Move" and "My Brave Face".
-
No, AL... it's NOT a "Good Thing".

I still hate this band.

"Yellow Moon" sounding fine today!

and neither is our 2nd uber-trina in a row, "Yellow Moon". Where are all those great Foghead requests? (Or did Fogheads actuallly ask for these?)

I'd be delighted to get any of those - particularly "My Brave Face" (or, as someone else - Urth? Tinka? - suggested, "Figure of Eight").
-
BOS JJ "19 Forever", a clever seg from the otherwise awful Dead Poets Society.
-
Woo Hoo! Macca with an uber-BOS2 bustout! VHM Elvis C's contribution here

YAY!!! BOS!!! "I've been hitting the town, and it didn't hit back." A lot of smart lines in this.

BOS4 to an underplayed B-52s track, for once: "Channel Z".
and enuf with the Kirstie up our Alley.
-
BOS2 to this B-52s song I've never heard before. First impression this is WAAAAAY better than anything else I've heard by them.
-
VHM the forgotten first single from Cosmic Thing. I always loved "Channel Z" and would happily perform it in karaoke if ever given the chance.

AL blew the false ending!!
-
anything from Cosmic Thing -- except the way-overplayed Love Shack -- is welcome!

What the hell is this.

What the hell is this.
^^^. WOS!

What the hell is this.
Its not Tone Loc, could it be Weird Al?

I'd've MUCH preferred Tone Loc himself to a bad parody.

I'm afraid it is. He's usually better than this.

It was? I have it on the B-side of "Love Shack" if memory serves.
uh-oh, Guns'n'Blowses

I googled it and indeed, it is.
I didn't think it sounded like Weird Al at first, but then again, he does that with his voice in some of this other songs.
Still, I agree with Gazoo that Weird Al can do better (i.e. Headline News). This one in addition to sounding out of place was just meh.

for some reason I rented Weird Al's movie called "UHF" because netflix said it was under appreciated and had some cult following --
OMG. it sucks bad and blows hard. don't bother.

Is it as bad as "Glitter"? (Which was so bad that it was good, in a derisive way)

Damn -- this was a long set. Talk about a mixed bag.

I thought it was fine except for songs #1 and #9.

I haven't seen Glitter, but UHF just has no laughs. And although Mariah Carey prob can't act her way out of a nail salon, at least she's nice to look at.

well, at least he used real fish for that.... it's about all I can say.
The only moment I found myself laughing in that movie was in the brief moment during the telephon when the Kipper Kids (the guys with large prosthetic chins) were babbling.
..so it appears that the "Conan the Librarian" clip AL played WAS from this very same UHF movie... did anyone catch that?

Is this some important date in Gilligan's Island history? Odd that Rob played Little Roger's "Stairway to Gilligan" in his 1978 set.

If all goes well, there will be a CD release party in SF in early 2011, possibly sooner. I'll keep you posted. You think it's in the book at The Mint?
