Dare I request "Mother" by John Lennon? Not warm-n-fuzzy enuf?

Dare I request "Mother" by John Lennon? Not warm-n-fuzzy enuf?
Babs's cover!
I'm gonna put in a request for "Sadie," but I fear we'll get the Intruders' "I'll Always Love My Mama" (great sentiment, awful lead vocal).
-
anything from The Mothers of Invention!
-
"Motherless Children" by Steve Miller, Tom Jones/Portishead, or Clapton. Something from Mother Earth perhaps? "Your Mother Should Know" or "Mother Nature's Son" from the Beatles. "Mother's Lament" from Cream would be quite a stretch.
ABBA's "Does Your Mother Know" or "Mamma Mia."
-
Queen's Tie Your Mother Down.
-
"Motherless Children" by Steve Miller, Tom Jones/Portishead
Wow, Geoff, I'm psyched that you know the Tom Jones w/ Portishead version! I really like both of his duet covers albums.
Will.i.am, "I Got It From My Mama"
Junior, "Mama Used to Say"
-
"Mother's Little Helper" - Stones ('66)
"Mother & Child Reunion" - Paul Simon ('72)
"Sexy Mama" - The Moments (1974)
"Mama Told Me Not to Come" - Randy Newman/Three Dog Night ('70)
"Mama Said" - The Shirelles ('61)
"Mama's Pearl" - J5 ('71)
"Motorcycle Mama" - Sailcat ('72)
"Mother Freedom" - Bread ('71)
"Mother Popcorn" - James Brown ('69)
"Mother-in-Law" - Ernie K. Doe ('61)
-
anything from The Mothers of Invention!
most appropriately, "My Guitar Wants to Kill Yo' Mama"!
-
Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"!
-
Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"!
a "older women" set could be great all by itself!
-
Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"!
Good one. I suggest The Police's "Mother". Not a good song, but would be fun to hear.
-
Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"!
X-so-Lent!
And, "Mama Said Knock You Out" - LL Cool J
-
Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"!
my gf is named Stacy, so I better learn that song for this Sunday!
-
Some fairly uncreative Fogheads on AL's FB page; I suggested the Junior, J-5, Fountains of Wayne and Queen songs mentioned above, as well as EJ's "Mama Can't Buy You Love"
AL nixed Lennon's "Mother" as "too sad and painful".
-
"Mama I'm Coming Home", Ozzy
"Shock Your Mama", Debbie Gibson
"Mothers Talk", Tears For Fears
"Wind Beneath My Wings", any version
"Down With The Sickness", Disturbed
I am glad that Annalisa is doing a lot of 'specialty' sets.

AL nixed Lennon's "Mother" as "too sad and painful".
"Mother's Little Helper," OTOH, is cheery and buoyant!
-
anything from The Mothers of Invention!
I'm gonna put the odds on that of 50-50, but what would really blow me away is if she played Mother Love Bone!
-
BOS to ABBA Mamma Mia (I liked the movie, too) and HM Three Dog Night's Mama Told Me Not To Come, two oft-heard classics that sound great to me today.
but w the Stones Mother's Little Helper this is turning into a well-worn set.
-
BOS for Savoy Brown and "Tell Mama"! An LSJUMB favorite.

uber-BOS4 Bonnie Franklin, one of my fave TV moms evah.
VHM the Intruders.
ya only gits one, ya only gits one, yeah...
-
was that One Day At A Time? wow, Valarie Bertinelli sounded young.
If only Bonnie Franklin as Mom knew what her other daughter Mackenzie Philips was up to back then, I'm sure SHE would've been grounded too
-
VHM the Intruders.

Not true! Heather had two! (So did Rhapsody, for those who saw Best in Show.) The backing track is classic Philly soul, but ugh, that lead vocal!

WHERE YOU BEEN, boy?!
ah been carrying George Rekers' bags, mama! (it pays very well)
-
"Loves Me Like A Rock" -first tune without "Mother, Mom, Mama" in title
-
BOS5 Mr Simon & the Dixie Hummingbirds. JJ plays the Hummingbirds version (sans Simon) on occasion -- a real delight.
-
Some good rarities there, but I gotta give my biggest BOS to Paul Simon. Just hits the spot.
-
Shirelles, way back in '61

BOS, "Mama Said.."
One of the cool things about my Washington DC trip... On the metro, making my way from the airport to my hotel, a bunch of kids in white shirts and rw&b ties gets on. Turns out they were some sort of boys chorus, and they launched into a fab rendition of this. Way cool way to start my trip.
-
BOS2 to one of my very favorite Beatles songs.
-
I don't know about that clip, but I bet he never leaves the house ;)
-
Oh yeah, another BOS for Scissor Sisters. Played this one this morning to get in the mood!
Getcho' momma jacked up on some cheap champagne!

The backing track is classic Philly soul, but ugh, that lead vocal!
you are right, on second listen, the lead singer sounds really flat... ay yi yi
love the dialog interlude, though...
-
An "Arrested Development" clip? Automatic BOS - I'm sure that's a 10@10 first.
-
hearing the replay -- can we just admit that, although it's a fantastic song and I was glad to hear it today and every day that it may come across the airwaves, that ABBA's Mamma Mia has pretty much nothing to do with anyone's mother...?
You could substitute the phrase "jeepers creepers" and the song would not lose any meaning whatsoever. :)
-
ABBA's Mamma Mia has pretty much nothing to do with anyone's mother...?
Try telling that to anyone who's seen the musical.

I usually give my condolences to anyone who's seen the movie -- truly horrendous.
-
anything from The Mothers of Invention!
most appropriately, "My Guitar Wants to Kill Yo' Mama"!
Listening to Li'l Steven's Mother's Day show -- sure enuf he played this one, as well as "Motherly Love".
