but happy birthday to Natalie Portman 24, Johnny Depp 42, Michael J. Fox 44, Aaron Sorkin 44, and Lester William Polfuss (aka Les Paul, 90).

ETA: Also Cole Porter, but he's dead.

No expectations whatsoever.  Well, one: I predict he plays "Mama said Knock You Out", since it did well in the voting last time.

But if he plays "All 4 Love" by Color Me Badd, I'm outta here...

Bound to happen sooner or later.

And not a bad start with this Smithereens song, which I don't recall hearing before, but it kinda rocks.

Even if Pat DiNizio is a conservative tool.

BOS to "Even Better Than the Real Thing," an apt summary of the pop culture landscape if ever there was one.  Pass the high fructose corn syrup, please!

Maybe Dave's a fan of the works of Long Dong Silver, too...

Not too bad a set so far. At least it's hitting my ears pretty nicely.

Even the Bonnie song.

Proxy HM for the Princess (wherever she may be) to the Blossom theme.

Oui. Which makes it's use as background music in a commercial for a birth control patch kinda off- but whatevah.

Slate.com did a piece recently on incongruous uses of songs in ads, and that was one:

http://www.slate.com/id/2120229/

the winner was Iggy Pop for Carnival Cruises (speaking of heroin!)

I would have walked next door and slapped Dave silly if "Rico Suave" had won BOS.

How easy it was to ignore that entire set.  I'm glad I cast my BOS early.

If I send Dave my folder of shirtless pictures of Eric Chavez, will he boot Gerardo to the curb?  Not hatin', just askin'.

Boy, you ain't kidding. He just keeps gushing about R-r-r-rico. We all have our guilty pleasures, but sheesh.

Feh.

who the f**k are these people who vote for Gerardo as BOS?  When one considers all the songs Dave is "afraid" to play because they're too pop or too wimpy or whatever, that he considers "Rico Suave" some sort of pinnacle of... something-or-other, is just plain scary.

Mine was one of the "hate e-mails" he got. :D

LOL! And just to be clear- I have nothing against Hispanic hunks or the men who fancy them.

But, that's no reason to pretend a novelty song sung by a would-be actor (I saw that VH! I Live the 90s ep) is, like, a real song.

Chavvy's not sleazy enough. And he doesn't have an accent, which I suspect is central to the fantasy...
