Webster said something about his Pink sleeveless English Beat t-shirt fitting well here.
ETA: it's not '83, but '81. Pretenders give us a Message of Lurve, aka sexting.
-
so, is this another "classic" or is AL back?
well, Pretenders are always a swell TOTHK -- 1981 has a "message" for us. BOS.

she's still out, this is a classic and I'll adjust the topic title.

Oh lord, WOS to Mike Reno et al, down on his knees, making love to whoever he please.

Me no likee this one, though he is doing a pretty credible Lou Gramm impression, not that that's a good thing.

ditto: LoverSagaBoy, "Turn Me On the Loose"

I saw Blubberboy in 82 at a huge stadium concert and they were pretty fun. HM for that memory.

What's happening today, Mark?
Nice "world" twin-spin. Another BOS for the Po-lice.
-
"Hey, good looking! We'll be back to pick you up later!"
Now I remember this set.
-
speak into my "mr Microphone", baby, ifyaknowwhutahmean.
BOS4 Lene's toy, oh-ee-oh!
-
hey, didja know that Thomas Dolby wrote this?
;) ;) ;)
-
Lene Lovich's New Toy -- second time in about as many weeks that we've heard this. Which is fine w me! BOS
Reminds me of Nina Hagen a bit, too.
-
What's happening today, Mark?
First pitching startup to possible seed money over lunch, but then having a potentially confrontational meeting with my mgr in the afternoon. Plus it's gray and drizzly.
-
preemptive WOS from RGMike, Gaz and Alicat
BOS from me and Shray and anyone else who likes quality rock. ;)

I'm witcha!
In fact, I just bought tickets to see them this summer at Snoreline. They're gonna do "Moving Pictures" straight through, which is my favorite (by a longshot).
-
If I don't post for a while, it's b/c I'm playing air-drums and slapping da bay-uss, mon.

Well, hey! Good luck!

Uber BOS Don Felder, whose very sexy cousin I sat & talked to on a Greyhound bus ride from Indy to Cincy in Nov 1979, the day before the Iggles performed there.
-
eek, "Heavy Metal", the song, which isn't really heavy metal the genre. FAIL!
-
BOS for Mr. Felder. I remember seeing "Heavy Metal" with my underage cousin when I was 17. They didn't ask for my credentials as his guardian. I don't remember much about it except the phrase "I wasn't gonna wander around with my dork hanging out." This was the first time I'd associated the word "dork" with "penis". Amazing what stands out in my memory.
-
VHM the man from Mars.
ETA: and Fab 5 Freddy & Grandmaster Flash!
-
eek, "Heavy Metal", the song, which isn't really heavy metal the genre. FAIL!
So can we give Deb a Fail for not really rapping in Rapture...?

Yes. Absolutely. "take a tooah tru da sooah"
-
I remember this set too ... and I still wish we'd gotten the whole Vangelis tune. But BOS5 OMD.
-
I for one wouldn't have minded hearing more than just a snippet of Vangelis just there.
-
this one is NTM, but it's so very wonderfully 80s that it gets another BOS..!
-
uber-BOS6 H&O, Full stop!

-
For a future 1981 I'll request "Stars On 45 Medley" just to see what happens.
-
AAAAAACK! WOS2 Rush, but of course.
I don't agree with Mike a lot but I'm with him on this. Bleegh!!

Bwahahaha! I can understand liking them if you were 15 in 1981, but lord have mercy between the horrendous lyrics and Geddy "my voice makes dogs' heads explode" Lee, their status as a beloved Canadian institution never fails to baffle me.

I was close to 15 (was 13) in 1981 and I hated them then.
