I like it!
there was a guy
an under water guy who controlled the sea
got killed by ten million pounds of sludge
from new york and new jersey
this monkey's gone to heaven
the creature in the sky
got sucked in ahole
now there's a hole in the sky
and the ground's not cold
and if the ground's not cold
everything is gonna burn
we'll all take turns
i'll get mine, too
this monkey's gone to heaven

Nice clip from "Harold and Maude"; haven't heard that one before, but it works good. And a BOS for Three Dog Night.

I'll give YABOS to Thomas Dolby's "Wind Power", though I'm not sure he's really talking about alternative energy.
-
BOS to Cat Stevens -- love that song
-
ooo, was not expecting Thomas Dolby.
-

I agree; we might as well have heard "The Windmills of Your Mind."

I don't think so either, but agreed on the BOS, and I have to bite on what the YA means.
My 2nd BOS goes to Bruce Cockburn.
-
"billion burgers' worth of beef"
Doo-dah, doo-dah.
-
this Bruce Cockburn is NTM, and I'm not surprised why! It's rather ho-hum...

She sure does. Increases my hope that I can request her to play "The Man In Black".
The Man in Black goes Green?
He lifted a substantial bit of that melody from his "Don't Take Your Guns To Town".

And what a Wonderful Song!!!!

Shore, that was him.
BOS for Kermit. Sadly, I have to yawn at Louis Armstrong. I hate to do it, but this song is pretty much dead for me.
-
Guilty displeasure - Satchmo. I actually like the song, but it keeps popping up in places I wish it wouldn't.
Would much rather have heard The Pixies.
-
Are you telling me that that clip I ascribed to H&M was actually Jane Goodall? Oops.

Blame Robin Williams (who blames Canada).

One I should've requested:

I completely understand that. It was used effectively in some war movie -- Good Morning Vietnam, maybe? -- and I liked it then, despite its sappiness. but that was years ago. I think that usage opened the floodgates.

you are correct, sir! And it was re-released as a single and got higher on the charts in 1988 than it had in its original release year.

Yep, that restored it to the public awareness, and it's been an evergreen ever since. Except it seems to be getting a little brown around the edges.

Really sorry to not be able to catch this one. There's not enough hours in my days right now. (I did listen to the 2002 Earth Day set yesterday, though.)
Btw, four of today's songs had made previous ED appearances. The other six, all Earth Day bustouts. (The Dolby and Quicksilver have shown up previously in other years/themes however.)

I'll bos Cat Stevens. Such a great song -- it's still stuck in my head, 23 hrs later.
