Excellent start. I wasn't really in the mood for a kooker -- this tempo suits me better after a challenging morning getting the kids going after a week off.

Empathy vibes...I went through that last Monday.

Thanks, fortunate enough to have afternoon jury duty!

What a happy song about a dreary day!

Thanks, fortunate enough to have afternoon jury duty!
This is my favorite early Fleetwood Mac song.
-
Easy livin' and I've been forgiven...
Annalisa's on a roll. BOS 3 Uriah Heep!
-
And AL's Heeping the great tunes on us!
-
Uriah Heep channeling Deep Purple? 'nother BOS
-
I never listened to this group (Uriah Heep) , but was freaked out once by their live appearance on Midnight Special or some other show. I knew Ken Hensley, the original keyboard player, as he was artist relations for St. Louis Music/Ampeg.

TANC - I was going to make a similar comment, and looks like both of us were channeling Annalisa!
BOS 4 Space Trucking, love the screams on this one!
-
Dedep Purple channeling Uriah Heep? ... or the Gods Of Metal Awesomeness?
yet again, another BOS!!

DUUUDE! the Heap twice in a week -- Larry or Bob played this last week -- and I second all the BOSes so far.

Crap, missed it while on the phone with tech support.
ETA: Missed more than I thought--the Heep tune, too.
BOS Stones & Allmans, so far.
-
BOS Uriah Heep. I first got to know "Easy Livin'" via a cover by half-parodic glam-metal band W.A.S.P.
-
what IS "space truckin'", exactly? I always picture "Pigs in Space" when i hear this.
-
BOS4 Stones.
-
Another BOS for Mick and the boys getting their Rocks Off. I learned this song from a Stanford Band originals tape, a recording of the original versions of songs that we play.
-
Exile is another great '72 anchor. Fortunate to see this band at Winterland that year.
-

It's traveling through and around the expanses of the collective mind, man! Either that it means getting wasted on Malt Duck.
-
wow, that peanut butter/chocolate meme goes all the way back to '72? I'm OLD.
BOS5 Rod the Bod, dancing with an older queen. Do tell!
-
mmm.... peanut butter and chocolate
back in these heady 70s, it was becoming more acceptable for snacks of different groups to mix. :)
-
well on our way to a 10-way tie, big-band BOS for the Stones & another for Rockin' Rod.
and a VHM for "You got chocolate in my peanut butter! You got peanut butter on my chocaloate!" My favorite candy, despite the absurdity of someone walking around a corner eating peanut butter straight from the jar, which even as I 9-year old I thought ridiculous.
-
Man that intro just rocks every time, and sounds extra good in such a rockin' set as today's. BOS #7 PGATW.
-
dare I say that old "mah-mo-yeah" is a tad overexposed at this point?

Powerpop Basic Lesson #1:
Sing at the top of your register. It works. (See also Alex Chilton in Box Tops vs Big Star.)
-
BOS5 the original Heartbreak Kid "You're gonna puff up!!"
OMFG!! uber-BOS6 Cher!!! Thank you, AL!

Oh. My. Gawd. I can't imagine anyone on any 10@10 has played this ever. BOS3 Cher, The Way of Love.
ETA: Is this a Paul Williams composition?
-

indeed, it's an ATBB (tho' it was on Casey's '72 chart last week). I requested it on FB, never expecting that AL would take me up on it.
-
HM for Jimmy Cliff encouraging us to get it. This was also an LSJUMB song, first heard by me on tape.
-
BOS7 Jimmy Cliff.
and urth, "Way of Love" was written by Jacques Dieval and Al Stillman -- orig in French; it was a hit for Kathy Kirby in the '60s ('LNG plays that version semi-regularly).
-
Staples Singers!
I'll Take You There!

he'p me now! call fo' MERCY!

I was going to settle for a VHM for Jimmy C., until I saw that this is quite surprisingly a Db bustout. So one more BOS.
-
add this one to the bass lines everyone should know.
-
Oh. My. Gawd. I can't imagine anyone on any 10@10 has played this ever. BOS3 Cher, The Way of Love.
ETA: Is this a Paul Williams composition?
Nope, Jack Dieval & Al Stillman.
But! I discovered that Cher released this song on an album in '71 (Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves) and again on another one in '73 (Half Breed) as well as *two* greatest hits albums that came out in '72 and '74 (both on MCA). So Dieval and Stillman must have been just rakin' in the royalties during those years.
ETA: Scratch Half-Breed, at least on the original release. Digging deeper it appears it was a bonus track on a latter-day rerelease, but not when it originally came out. However it was on two different best-ofs released two years apart. Weird.

Funny that AMG has anglicized Dieval's name to "Jack."

MCA put out many many crappy Cher re-packages over the years. None of which had everything; you were always missing a single or 2. The best package is this 2-disc set that I bought a few years back:
