Some dolt on AL's FB page suggested "Jet Airliner" and "Couldn't Get it Right". Gee, ya NEVER hear those 2! ::)
-
BOS LTD, a fine TOTHK.
-
Hey hey, didja hear the pop quiz yesterday? That was me winning Jeff Beck tickets. Any Beck in 77? I bet there is.
-
Gay(e) Marvin gots to

Tanks. Ya know a good place to eat near the Masonic Auditorium?

Pretty Soul Patrol-y today with three funky hits. VHM for EWF.

if you walk over to Polk there's a good Indian place (India Aroma), Polk near Clay.

Thanks. (I like Indian, but I had it for lunch yesterday...) Was that Shuggie's intro there, or does it really change key in the middle?
-
pretty sure this is the B's J.

pretty sure this is the B's J.
Oh yes. But the very beginning of the intro sounded different. Wish I could rewind it.

same guy -- "Scooter Livingston" is his name -- on FB just said he hasn't heard "Strawberry Letter" in AGES. Has he been in a hermetically sealed room for the past decade?
-
Some dolt on AL's FB page suggested "Jet Airliner" ...
plus that was 1976. "Jungle Love" is 1977.
-
Well, "Jungle Love" is better than "Jet Airliner"... but not by much.

maybe he just moved to SF & never listened to 10@10 before.

no actually they're both '77. and both Classic Rock warhorses.
-
yay! BOS2 Blondie en francais.
-
BOS for Blondie. I'm thinking of going to see them and the B52's at the Mountain Winery this summer. Anybody seen them recently?
-
BOS3 this unfamiliar-sounding "starry eyes" song just for being a bustout.

BOS3 this unfamiliar-sounding "starry eyes" song just for being a bustout.
I'll give it an HM for it's nice jangly sound, but I'd say there's a reason this is a forgotten song. It's just not very good, with tons of repetition of "starry eyes".
-
VHM STB -- their eyes have a mist from the smoke of a dist.
-
And I know it's a Katrina, but I still really like "Smoke from a Distant Fire". I could never make out "don't let the screen door hit you". I think I thought they were saying "and when that reality hits you".

If I played bass, I would def try to master Jungle Love's bassline.

I missed the starry-eyes song but will give BOS to Sanford-Townsend. Happy Friday!
-
BOS3 Gilda.
proxy of Alicat, Pablo Snooze. If AL had played their cover of "I Go to Rio" I'd've given her points for audacity, but "Place in the Sun" ain't doin' it.
-
Funny to hear Baba Wawa. I was watching the 2nd season of SNL last night and saw her on the third show. I also saw James Taylor accompanied by a much younger Lee Sklar (who I successfully identified :-). He still had the big beard, but he was all brown instead of grey.

Polk near Pine has a couple other Indian places: Shalimar -- cheap, spicy -- and Darbar across the street. There's also Miller's Deli on Polk : http://www.millersdelisf.com/

WOS to the oversung "Place in the Sun." Pablo's lead singer had no sense of nuance whatsoever.
-
BOS the Pistols!

I thought Pablo Cruise was made up of Hispanic dudes, but it seems there were all white guys. they sure sound like it.
Still, this song is ok by me. :)

You know what word I'm not comfortable with? Nuance.

BOS the Pistols!
My stream must be a full minute behind y'alls'.
WOS to the Pistols, the most overrated rock band in history.
-
BOS the Pistols!
didja hear PiL is in town tomorrow? At the Regency Ballroom. it's $50 -- yowzer.
fyi: this "No Future" refrain is sampled by PiL in their song God, which appears on their 92 LP That What Is Not, their last record.
-
BOS the Pistols!
gawd save Annalisa! uber-BOS4 I just put this on my first mix CD. (yeah, I'm a decade behind the rest of America -- what about it?)

I woulda thought that too. In face, I was thinking they sounded like an extra-poppy Santana. And Cruise sounds like an Anglicization of Cruz.

The Pistols are like Presley: more significant culturally than musically. Think of 'em as the punk Monkees.

Thank you thank you. Totally woorked for me.
Tuned in, too busy to post so far

Scooter Livingston sez: "How often do you hear Pablo Cruise? Gotta run to rehab..."
To which I replied "Rehab? well, that explains a LOT, Scooter!"

same guy -- "Scooter Livingston" is his name -- on FB just said he hasn't heard "Strawberry Letter" in AGES. Has he been in a hermetically sealed room for the past decade?
AL mentioned after one of his comments a couple days ago that they worked together at a radio station in MA years ago--late 80s maybe. And I think he's now in FL, so it's possible he really *hasn't* heard much of 10@10.

I'm sure he hasn't, but I'm not talking about 10@10, I'm talking about radio generally -- Classic Rock and Oldies stations have played all the songs he mentioned to *death* in the last 10-20 years. Anybody who hasn't heard "SL23" in ages has been otherwise occupied, methinks.

I wouldn't argue with either of you here, but I really dig both "God Save the Queen" and "Anarchy in the UK". They just work, whatever the band's context, as songs.
-
7. Roky Erickson- Starry Eyes
ah! the "starry eyes" song was, er, "Starry Eyes" by Roky Erickson -- another artist AL has played more times in 10 months than Dave did in 27 years!
-

Somehow I missed this until now. Nice one Dave! One of the most quotable movies of all time. Wonder what Paul Reiser is doing these days.
