Of course, the show was a big gay fave in the '80s. I had always assumed Forsythe was another aging Republican (as he was a contemporary of Reagan) but a few years into the show's run I read an interview and it turned out he was a a longtime Dem fundraiser and wasn't fond of Reagan at all.  In fact, the character of Blake Carrington, who was originally meant to be a ruthless hateful oilman, was mellowed considerably at Forsythe's behest after the first season (in which he murdered his gay son's male lover!).
