I've not heard of her, but quite accomplished for a teen (or anyone)!
Elinor Smith Sullivan dies at 98; daring female pilot.  At 19, she beat out Amelia Earhart to be named the best female pilot in the country. The 'intrepid birdwoman' was also featured on a Wheaties box.
