Title: RIP Dr. John Ciambotti, Clover bassist

Just learned from a friend that Ciambotti has died in Los Angeles. Clover, originally from Marin County, was the backing band on Elvis Costello's debut album My Aim Is True, save for harmonica player Hugh Cregg (later Huey Lewis), who didn't perform on MAIT. Ciambotti later became a doctor of chiropractic and practiced in the LA area.

Here's a video of Ciambotti performing with Costello and Clover at a benefit several years ago at the Great American Music Hall.

Clover put out their own LP in '78 or '79, a country-rock flavored thing that got some NYC prog-FM airplay; they did a nice upbeat cover of Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man". Long out-of-print, sadly.

ETA: shoulda looked on Amazon first -- it's there as an import for 18.99.
