I'm guessing '70s -- '77 would seem to be ripe, it's been a month. Wonder if Monday's Motown set counts as our '60s visit for the week, or if we'll get a double dose.

Wrong -- it's 1971, little darlin'. It seems like years since it's been clear. BOS Sistah Havens .
damn, we're in full Top 40 mode with "Sunshine" -- AL better add some prog if she wants this set to be longer than 35 mins!

Sounds like an all Sun Set so far. So did Jonathan Edwards do any other songs of note?

Does "We're gonna lay around the shanty, Mama, and get a good buzz on" ring any bells?

Yep. And some research indicates that one of his early bands featured Joe "Shaddup You Face" Dolce on guitar. Isn't the interweb wonderful?

Oh TJ, you old tree-hugger, you. Keep eatin' those purple flowers. Proxy of gaz "Draggin' the Line".

Dolce has written quite a few country songs, actually.
WOS2 Lee Michaels, an overplayed "classic" I coulda done without today --and for years to come.
-
Do you know what Lee Michaels means? He means this is the most Morey-esque set of the AL era. Of course, I do like his organ.
-
Hoo!

Me too, completely agree.
(except it's only WOS #1 from me, I like that Macca song)

is this the first time we've heard a song while someone was using its lyric as their sig-quote? TANC-of-the-month!
-
I'll BOS The Muswell Hillbilly Kinks!
-
another BOS for Bowie -- This song is used in the original Brit production of Life On Mars, oddly enough. Highly recommended and you can get it from Netflix.
-
BOS for Bowie's "Life on Mars?" Speaking of which, I never finished watching that show. It was enjoyable, not least of which for its great 70s soundtrack.

funny you should ask...I had occasion to call him on his cell regarding a CNET inquiry for my new job. He was just checking out of a hotel in Redding & heading back home to OR.
-
1971 was confusing. Cher passed through Mo-BEEL, but the Who went Mo-BILE.
-
another BOS the 'Oo. Played this album to death my freshman year of college (prior to that I didn't have access to a reallygood stereo system, nor the freedom to play it as loud as I wanted to.)

Did Carlos really say he was the Hose? I love it.

indeed, BOS3 from me -- check out Streisand's cover version sometime.

speaking of sig quotes, I just updated mine to a quote I heard yesterday.

Ooh. BOS to a longtime favorite of mine, the Paul Williams-penned "Old-Fashioned Love Song."
-

yep. Mayor Newsome gave Carlos some kind of artist award, and he said this in his acceptance speech or whatever. Irish Greg read it on the air & Peter & Webster made him reread it twice.

I wonder if you can still get a dream date with him (with knee-pads, of course).
-
BOS4 3DN and the fabulous Paul Williams

I loved this when it came out, we'd (whole family) sing along in the car on the way out to Jones Beach in our Chevy Biscayne. I was 8.
-
I wanna celebrate another blue-eyed soul song from Rare Earth. They're good.

Do y'all know about his famous anti-Anita Bryant ad? When she was at her peak, he and his wife took out a full-page ad in Variety:
"Mr & Mrs Paul Williams would like to announce that they no longer serve screwdrivers"
Moreyesque clips too: the fabulous Vivian Pickles in H & M.

Didn't hear about that, but he looks great. I just checked his website.
But what is H&M? I guess I wasn't paying attention.
Never mind. I looked it up: "Harold and Maude".

we all know Carlos is a big fan of agriculture, but I'm confused... he's actually the hose? so where's the water? Maybe that's why all my plants die. ;-)

Oh my. That was terrible. So overwrought, and that's saying something after Bowie's pretty heavily wrought version.

Now yer talking! ;D

even amongst the Moreytrinas we got what I assume were 2 bustouts -- the Kinks and the Bowie.

Carlos is the hose but Geddy Lee is the hoser.

Arrgghh, missed another goodie. Oh well, that's going to be happening more in coming weeks and months, I fear. Got home around 9pm, and flopped on the couch once the car was unloaded, not even thinking about 10@10 until the set was about done. Oops.
Yes, my BOS most certainly would have broken the tie in favor of the Kinks. Yes, this may be the first time one of our sigs has appeared in a set, but since I've had that as my sig for well over a year (if not more) I don't think it can count as much more than a coincidence. It was bound to come up eventually. :)
