instant BOS BBs, "I Can Hear Music", as AL salutes some of the RnRHoF indictees.
(ETA: in this case songwriters Ellie G and Jeff B)

I'm still simmering over Genesis getting in before the Moodies. >:(
-
An uber-Moreytrina, to be sure, but BOS2 Spiral Starecase -- I'm gonna do this in karaoke. Someday.
-
Props to the late Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry! BOS1 Beach Boys, BOS2 More Today Than Yesterday.
Brill Building FTW!

I found no small amount of irony in the fact that Genesis went in as part of the same class as the Stooges. I expect to hear their "1969" before the set is done.

this morning's Request-O-Rama question was "what do these bands have in common?" and the list included the Moodies, KISS, and 4 or 5 others -- the answer being "not in the RnRHoF"

BOS3 Python's "funniest Joke" bit. Genius.
ETA: always takes a sec to remember that tho' we Americans didn't see the Python shows until 1973, they aired in the UK beginning in '69.
-
Yow! BOS for the Mighty Python and the Killer Joke!
-
VHM Jimmy Cliff, another Dave fave. Has AL been perusing old Morey setlists?
-
BOS4 and proxy of Gaz, "He Ain't Heavy" -- I'm most thrilled that the Hollies finally made it into the hall. (see my FB page today)
-
Speaking of Genesis, it just occurred to me that their first album was released in '69. Will AL adhere to her theme and play The Silent Sun? One hopes not.
BOS3 He Ain't Heavy...

WOS Mayberry RFD -- Ken Berry, you're no Andy Griffith; George Lindsey, you're *definitely* no Jim Nabors.
uh-oh, it's Booker T with that alternate take of "Time Is Tight" AL seems to favor.

Yeah, this one's sped up about 20%.

It sounds funny to me, at least in the headphones. Guitar and bass on the left, everything else on the right, with occasional weird sounds coming from the middle. Do you hear that, or do I just need to replace my batteries?
ETA: I'm getting the middle weirdness on Steve Miller too.

man on the moon --> "Space Cowboy"... as unoriginal a segue as AL has come up with.
-
VHM to "Space Cowboy," with a belated happy birthday to another "Spaced Cowboy" author, Sly Stone, whose was yesterday.
-

True dat, but Space Cowboy is a bustout, database-wise.

WHAT??? no way, man. AL's certainly played it since June, which the db doesn't reflect, but Dave surely did at least once.
-
BOS5 Mr Cash and the sunuvabitch who named him "Sue".
-
My Name Is SUE!!! How Do You DOOOOO!!!!!
-
Sir Douglas Quintet is BACK, baby! BOS6 "Mendocino". Love that organ, er, Farfisa. (Tho' I'm sure Augie's organ is quite nice too)
-
a big woo hoo BOS for Sir Douglas.
-
Goin' out with a twang--Boy Named Sue straight into Sir Doug's Mendocino. Play dat Farfisa, Augie!
-
No idea who this ballad is? Bee Gees? AL *has* to play the Stooges, no?
-

Speak Gabriel's name and Gabriel shall appear.
-
This Bee Gees-esque confection is NTM; I'll give it a BOSFRA. Maybe it's the New Colony Six?

Holy crap -- that was Genesis!
and here come the Stooges.

now... you made it sound like "Silent Sun" would be a bad thing -- I rather liked the BeeGeesiness of it. VHM.
-
well Dave played "1969" at least once, but still sounds like it should be a bustout.
