Hmm...Soul Asylum. Methinks 91 or 92.
ETA: Whitburn says this charted in mid-93, but I remember them playing Clinton's inauguration in January of that year, so I think it was released in late 92.

as a single, this peaked in '93. so... still unclear. "somehow I'm neither here nor there"

WOS to Dave's Pride Song.
-
VHM Mr Finn with a Morey fave. Leaning towards '93 now.

WOS to Dave's Pride Song.
horrors! why you be hatin'?

I just think it's a dull, dull, dull song.

Wow, talk about your sleeper hits. Grave Dancers Union came out in May of '92 but RT didn't hit the charts until June of '93. So we're no closer to having a definitive year than we were before.
But what's the year for Tim Finn? Dave always played Hit the Ground Running in '93, so that's a bit more definitive.

BOS James fabulous original version of "Laid". '93 fo' sho'.

BOS from me too, although I never heard this song in '93 when I was in Taiwan.

I never heard it in California, but then again, I wasn't listening to alternative radio then.

No complaints with any of today's offerings so far. The James and Finn tunes get my highest marks, but withholding a final vote til we've heard a bit more of the set.
Who was tune #4 anyway? I've heard it before, can't place it. Ditto #5, for that matter.

another song KFOG ignored when it was new -- but Live 105 was all over it.
DD's "Ordinary World" seals the '93 deal. BOS2. A big pop hit and also a Live 105 staple that KFOG didn't bother with.
-
BOS the double D's!
ETA: this one I did hear in Taiwan, and bought the CD at the international bookstore. There were several great tracks on this, and if Annalisa ever plays "Breath After Breath" I'll be happy for a week.
-
BOS "Ordinary World," a college sledgehammer.

#4 was the Lemonheads' "Into Your Arms". I looked it up. Thought it might be the Gin Blossoms or Smithereens, but should have gotten it. It's a shame about not recognizing the Lemonheads.

Another potential BOS in Creep. Wonder what kind of special we're gonna be today? Kcufing? Or just a blip?
ETA: "Kcufing" it is!!
-
ah yes, the great "I hate Myself" boomlet of the early '90s rears it's ugly head. So fucking special. Guilty displeasure: "Creep"

A. I remember mishearing "weirdo" as "winner", which didn't make much sense.
It's so silly. This obscuring of the naughty word doesn't work at all, but somehow, the FCC is OK with it.
-
BOS #2 Radiohead, another song I did hear while in Taiwan, because I had access to MTV Japan on cable. I always remember this one because, swear to God, MTV Japan credited the album as Pabro Honey.
-
BOS3 U2 -- this should be followed by that New Order song that uses the same riff, only faster.

Yep, it sure sounded like "fucking" to me. But they made the effort to cover it up, so they're OK.

BOS4 Tasmin Archer -- whatever happened to...?
A fine song that I really enjoyed for a long time. But it's overexposed.
-
Tasmin Archer is another one I never heard in '93, so I was always happy to hear it, even as Dave turned it into a huge Katrina. If Annalisa only plays it once a year I'll continue to like it.
-
biddy biddy bop!
BOS #3 Us3
-
OMFG!!! uber-BOS5 "Cantaloop" -- another one KFOG ignored (because it was too hip-hop, presumably), but they played that weak rip-off of it a couple years ago.
-
biddy biddy bop!
BOS #3 Us3
Wow, now that's rare. Is this (originally) Canteloupe Island?

I think so -- it was a whole CD of hip-hoppers fooling around with the BlueNote jazz catalog, iirc.
-
Holee CRAP!
Uber BOS Smashing Pumpkins!
Hipsters Unite!
-
a Smashing ATBB from the Pumpkins.
-
Kinda dull Smashing Pumpkins song, doing a credible Collective Soul impression. (or vice versa?)
-
Holee CRAP!
Uber BOS Smashing Pumpkins!
Hiopsters Unite!
Agreed.
This set really hasn't been my cup o' tea. The hip-hop thing was saved by the sax, and I like "Creep", but was away from my headphones during that. Not upset that I missed it, though, as I've heard it plenty. The rest, meh.

Damn, sorry to miss that--the inevitable phone interruption.
BOS to the Punkinheads though. Longish set today!
-
a Smashing ATBB from the Pumpkins.
Another real sledgehammer from my Taiwan days. I'd seen "Today" on MTV Japan, and bought the CD based on that alone (I had no idea of the hype Billy Corgan was already generating at the time) and when this lead of track came out of the speakers that first time, I was quite literally blown away.
If we can ever get something off of Gish in a '91 set I'll be similarly blwon away.

BOS4 Tasmin Archer -- whatever happened to...?
For me this song is a sledgehammer of being in Frankfurt Germany, watching MTV Europe, which was way different than MTV US at the time. I like the song, even if I do support the moon landing program!
-
BOS1 Tim Finn.
BOS2 Duran Duran. At least she got the year right. A smash on Live 105 that Live 105 nowadays totally ignores.
I would have loved to hear that New Order song!!!
VHM James, US3.
WOS Radiohead.
