So we better Listen To What The Man Said.
1975, me sez.
-
Some mystery: "Listen to What the man said" is pretty obviously '75. Sheesh.

Me too -- guessed it from the first 10 secs. Always liked early-mid 70s Paul.

VHM to Macca. BOS to the Spinners, "('They Just Can't Stop It' The) Games People Play."
-
BOS for the Spinners. I like the way the vocals switch from man to woman.
-
they just can't stop it! the parenthetical games people play (I can never remember where the parentheses go)

I got it completely inverted:

PS: Hey, it's the LONG version!

Barbara Ingram is her name. Love the tinkly piano bit. BOS1.
-
It's possibly the worst punctuated song title ever. "They Just Can't Stop It" The (Games People Play).
Other than that it's not a bad song.
-
Wow, I cannot believe she's playing "How Many Friends" from Who by Numbers. Totally awesome! I love that album.
-
BOS2 the 'oo and a rare track, "How Many Friends?" -- "he buys me a brandy, but could it be he's really after my ass?"

ETA: OMFG! uncensored "shit"! I love you, AL!

It would have parsed a lot better if they'd titled it the way you did.
BOS1 The 'Ooo, How Many Friends. Deep cut from By Numbers?
-
I'll give a BOS for the Bo Diddley beat in "She's the One"! I bet Rich BOSes this one too!
-
from homoeroticism to hetero longing: BOS3 Brooooce, "She's the One". Mmmm... French cream...
-
HM to "On the Dark Side," er, "She's the One."
-
HM to "On the Dark Side," er, "She's the One."
tee hee. Beaver Brown only wish they coulda done this.
-
BOS to the Boss, She's the One. Just realized how poorly mastered this song is--I always thought it was only my overplayed copy of BTR that sounded like this.
-
Wow, I cannot believe she's playing "How Many Friends" from Who by Numbers. Totally awesome! I love that album.
And which Who albums *don't* you like? :-)
-

Sure I will, just for the beat.
But I like Thunder Road and Born to Run lots more.
-
roll away the doo-doo.
-
Hmmm, the popular BOS race could be interesting, between Bruce and the GD. BOS3 (and proxy of Geoff & Alicat) for Franklin's Tower.
"If you plant ice, you're gonna harvest wind..."
(I never did understand that line.)
-

Point taken, but I have a special spot for this one. I listened to the tape in my car over and over sometime back in the 80s. It's a special record, very personal.
-
And I'll give a BOS for the Dead too. It was always a great moment in concert when you realize they're playing this song, even if the words don't make any sense.

It's an underrated LP, IMHO. It was one of the records I played on my first-ever college radio show in Oct of '75.
another bustout: Neil. BOS4FRA

Furshlugginer 9:30 daily sales meetings!
At least I got to hear my current favorite Dead tune. Yay for "Franklin's Tower"!
fwiw, our family physician is Dr. Frank Lin.
-
HM for obscure Neil Young that I've never heard before, but I didn't really like that song.
And a BOS for "Have a Cigar". Did I mention I love Wish You Were Here?
-
VHM Python!
-
BOS #whatever Monty Python clip!!!!
-
see, in my family it was the men who were hamsters, and the women smelt of elderberries...
Proxy of Rod for the Spamalot, err, Holy Grail clip
-
Wow, that was a surprise. Deep cut from Neil's
Zuma Tonight's The Night. Except I can't tell you the name to save my life.
ETA: Just realized both TTN and Zuma were released in '75. Still can't recall the title.
-
WOS "Have a Cigar," Floyd at their most boring to my ears.
-
BOS #whatever Monty Python clip!!!!
Didn't Holy Grail come out in '74? I spose it's still valid...
Guess not. They were filming it in 74; guess that's what I remember.
Biggest BOS for Steely Dan and "Don't Take Me Alive". I love that opening chord.
-
BOS2 "Don't Take Me Alive," despite the Oregon mispronunciation.
-
BOS #whatever Monty Python clip!!!!
Didn't Holy Grail come out in '74? I spose it's still valid...
nope, it was '75. '74 was the year of Mel Brooks.
-

but have you ever heard the disco version?

BOS5, proxy of cairo, the Dan and those luckless pedestrians.

Yeah me too, it's a great album all around.
By the way, Chris Hedgecock's band "The Floyd Project" concert in San Jose a few weeks ago was very excellent. The did all the big song (plus some lesser-known ones) from Wish you were Here, The Wall, and Dark Side of the Moon. Sounded *amazingly* like the real Pink Floyd.

TANC, been listinening to the Citizen Steely Dan set all week in the car on my new and improved ( >:( )commute. Listened to this on Wednesday.
-
BOS2 "Don't Take Me Alive," despite the Oregon mispronunciation.
For the first several years after this came out, I thought he was singing "Crossed my old man back in Aragon."
-

'Tanks. I've been busy workin', so not paying a lot of attention. While others were immediately sure of the mystery year, I only knew it was mid-70s Macca, and my first guess was '76. Then, it was just background until MP, and I knew then it was '75.
BOS to the fuzzed guitar Dan intro. That intro always hits a nerve, pleasantly.
-
so is Annalisa implying that Jimmy Hoffa was knocked off with a Saturday Night Special?
-
it's a Saturday Nite S-S-Special! VHM Skynyrd.
-
BOS2 "Don't Take Me Alive," despite the Oregon mispronunciation.
For the first several years after this came out, I thought he was singing "Crossed my old man back in Aragon."
Ha! but is it "my old man" or "my own man"? I've always heard the latter.

I think Gaz blew his WOS wad a bit prematurely.
(i apologize for the metaphor)

Damn, I would have fallen out of my chair if I'd been hearing that real time. Last night XM Deep Tracks played nothing but Who for the whole 2+ hrs I was listening. And I was thinking that if I had a chance to request a Who track it would have been this one.
Damn.

Heartily agree with this.
Hah, Starsky and Hutch. (Ok, ok, I had to Google "Zebra-3" -- c'mon, I was 5.)
-
More uncensored rock! AL's messin' wit a sonofabitch! A big fave on The Bone a few years back.

Wow, I'd forgotten this song features both cowbell *and* talkbox. BOSFRA to Hair of the Dog, Nazareth. Are they still playing the casino-and-county-fair circuit?

you're right, per their old, er, own website. One problem: "Don't Take me Alive" is from '76. Ooops.

True, well just imagine that she played "Throw Back the Little Ones" instead.

By jove, you're right. She shoulda gone with something from Katy Lied. Any World (That I'm Welcome To) would have been nice.
