Oh, now I feel guilty. I think that was the first time I'd ever heard the original. I always considered it AWB doing its best Isley impersonation. Of course, it's an Isley song! How could I have been so blind? Talk about having work to do...

Agreed!  I could enjoy the whole "Sanford and Son" theme.

A few years ago someone (I think my mother-in-law) gave me a cd of "50 top TV theme songs".  Don't play it often, but what memories!!

Wow. I have to guess it's been at least 30 years since I last heard the original "Do Ya." Once ELO's version came out, everybody forgot about this one. Kinda sounds like some of the vocals are out of sync with the backing track, but I like the overall groove and the falsetto backing vox. Mike, any guess who's singing lead on this? Early Lynne, or could it be Roy Wood?

Big ups to AL for the Isleys tune as well--it's probably been even longer since I last heard that one.
